A friend made a FB post inviting us to share all our favorite idioms and expressions, bonus points if from a foreign language, and my first inclination was, “French is gonna win this one.” (The French language truly has some great ones.)
But I had forgotten the SHEER UNRELENTING BRUTALITY of Yiddish.
Yiddish can be very funny and irreverent, but there is literally one that’s like, “He should turn into a chandelier so he can hang by day and burn by night” (LOL) and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
