today i learned that according to the New York Post, “Forty-two percent of women have experienced period-shaming, with one in five being made to have these feelings because of comments made by a male friend.” (x)

more reasons why you should get reusable menstrual pads

  • more comfortable that it feels like you have no pad on
  • has cute patterns to make YOU feel excited with your period
  • display it in your bathroom and feel empowered that you’re using a chemical-free and eco-friendly period product
  • save the earth- disposable pads can take up to 500 years to decompose
  • discreet to be put in the bag or to bring to the bathroom though WHO CARES? let people see it and educate and empower other period users to switch and be open about their cycle!

before switching to reusable, ive always felt scared to talk about my period. i didnt want to tell someone i get skin rashes or major discomfort because i thought its tmi but hey, its NOT! if people can openly talk about sex, we should be able to openly talk about our cycle that involuntarily occurs monthly! share your thoughts and ask questions about your cycle! i promise you it will help your monthly period better knowing that you’re not alone in this!

Good information and boost for everyone.

Reusable period pads are the best! No rashes, so comfortable and available in so many designs! Plus you support an independent artist. Check them out!

YESS!!! this cannot be stated enough! I started to feel more comfortable within my own body once I started using reusable products for menstruation. It is a good bit of an upfront cost, but so worth it! Period underwear and pads are wonderful. Cups are great too for people who are comfortable with them :) Talk with your fellow people with periods! We all need to work on de-stigmatizing this; men, women, nonbinary, and those who are unsure. :)

I LOVE reusable pads!! The bamboo charcoal ones are super easy to clean and super comfy <3 AND many of these pads are made by small companies! Great way to support the community!!

Wow o wow. I don’t ever wanna contribute to these numbers.

On top of the awesome environmental impacts of reusable menstrual products, they also help to alleviate some pain from menstruation. Not all but a noticeable amount. Since I switched I haven’t gotten fevers, and pain has been less.

I love all the reusable pad positivity but why does no one ever talk about how they work. Like especially if you have a heavy flow, are you just supposed to carry around a blood soaked piece of fabric with you. And like 7 different ones at that. The switch can be really intimidating when no one’s giving actual information on them and just saying how good for the earth they are or the health benefits. HOW DOES IT WORK

@hobbitdactyl i can definitely answer your questions because ive been seeing this post for ages and have read the reusable pads testimonies so i gave it a shot.

i got the trial pack from cariona because i was unsure which size would fit my needs most. it came with a liner, regular, overnight, xl and a pouch. after testing them all, i realized i only need the liner, regular and overnight pads and not the XL ones cause the XL is too long for me.

when i go out, i bring my double zip pouch (that i bought separately) so i can store my used and unused pads in one just one pouch. after changing, i fold my pad to prevent it from smelling and leaking and i put it in the double zip pouch until i get home.

for cleaning, i personally just put the pad under the shower while i wait for hot water (to remove the blood) then i handwash it with the soap i use to shower. i then air dry it and wait until i’m ready to do my laundry and just wash it with all my clothes so its extra clean.

the pads i bought came with a manual on how to use it and wash it. their website also has tons of reviews that i read before buying cause i dont want to regret buying this.

if you have any questions or want to see photos or anything, hit me up (anyone can message me too)! im just so psyched that i can FINALLY talk about my reusable pad experience without feeling scared that someone will judge me or think im disgusting or odd. i hope we can normalize talking about our cycle more so we can all share tips!

as another reusable pad user, they’re actually absorbent enough that i’ve never needed to change them out between showers (and the corresponding change in underwear). i regularly compared my underpants to the scene of a triple homicide back when i used regular pads, and with the reusable ones there is no smell (which is great because the smell used to make me nauseous) and no heavy full-diapery feeling from the blood filling the pad like with usual pads either.

i hand-wash mine with cold water and regular soap and then run them in the washing machine, but honestly i could probably just do the washing machine if i wanted.

psa to all women:

i just found this super cool reusable menstrual pad that will save us thousands of bucks

apparently an average woman spends about $120/year on pads and tampons and an additional $20/year on medications for cramps and other period side effects. since we menstruate for approximately 40 years, we spend (40 times 140) =  $5,600 for our period over our lifetime.

IMAGINE WHAT YOU CAN BUY FOR $5,600?!?!

which is why i turned to menstrual pads. eco-friendly, economical and healthy

also, im saying goodbye to everyone in the public bathroom knowing im on my period

i got the pads here and they have all the info on their website!

I’ve read about diapers, tampon and pads containing toxic chemicals:

“A recent study published in Reproductive Toxicology3 confirms the results of a previous study4 from 2014 demonstrating how the feminine care industry sells products containing harmful chemicals, including pesticides, fragrances, dyes and preservatives.”

So not only are menstrual pads cheaper, they’re also safer for your body!

sis i got this and have been using reusable pads for three years i can tell y’all it’s 100% reliable than your ex telling you hes a changed man, 100% discreet than your ex’s loud chewing and 100% healthier than your toxic relationship

so stop thinking of your ex and start using reusable pads instead

both sis got points but i dont know which point drove me into buying the pad

its probably thinking about what i can buy for $5,600 like thats so overwhelming thats 10% of my college debt right there

I built my stock pile when I was like 19 and have been using them since. Take care of them and they’ll last a long time. Also cups are amazing! Both are way more comfortable imo too! Kind of large investment at first but I haven’t had to buy ANY period products in like 3 years.

How am I 22 and just learning about this

You mean I can save money and the environment?

Ok how are these pads for heavy period ladies? Cuz if the pad absorbs a lot during the day and you’re out and want to change it… like, what do you do with the heavily soaked one??

@dancingismycupoftea i bring two pouches! one is an ordinary (but cute) pouch for the newly washed pads and the other is a waterproof pouch for the used pads. when i get home, i soak the used pads overnight with lukewarm water and soap and wash it next day

I personally use a cup but I use reusable liners and I LOVE them especially for my spotting days!

They can be pricy so it’s a little daunting but so worth it! And they are SO much more comfortable

lemme just say I bought these after seeing this post and these are AMAZING! The price is worth it because these are quality! I have never felt so breathable before wearing any kind of pad, and these are totally waterproof and collect a lot! 10/10

Hey hey I’ve used a reusable menstrual cup for the last few months now and while it got some getting used to, its super great and easy to use and i cant imagine not using it now :0 And I use reusable liners on lighter days towards the end of my period! Theyre so good and save so much money in the long run

Reblogging for anyone who want to switch to reusable ones!

My sister uses these and she loves them, her daughter also now has her own as well. My sister said that their cramps are basically nonexistent and they said a ton of money plus they’re extremely comfortable

They save *so* much money. I bought my first cloth pads in college, before some Tumblr folk were born. I’ve bought a few more over the years, but I still have the old ones. That’s 22 years of use!

I bought several on @wrenb77 ’s recommendation and they re way more comfortable than disposable type, seriously y'all.

I actually use them and they’re pretty comfortable and surprisingly easy to clean

i was so beyond nervous but i used them for my cycle this month and i get VERY heavy and irregular periods so i was nervous and i have genuinely never felt better about myself while on my period. i would go through disposable pads by the HOUR but these? these are GOD SENDS. they are comfortable, absolutely leak free (even on the heaviest of days) and they are so so so securing with the button. i love them and i felt like i could conquer the world even with two swords in my ovaries

Well now I know my next purchase when I’m an adult.

Question: Do they have more gender-neutral designs available?

Avatar
moonlightmarathon

@rabidmultishipper they actually do. i wanted an all floral pattern for myself and an all black pattern for my sister (so we can distinguish which pad is mine and hers) so i emailed them and they sent me their designs and i got to choose the patterns that i want. just email them and im positive they will do the same for you!

I got mine about 2 moons ago now and I couldn’t be happier honestly!! Feels like heaven between your legs with how soft they are🥰

Oh honestly best purchase of my adult life thus far. And super user friendly and absorbent as well as being sustainable. It’s also super great for those of us who never got used to using tampons so using a cup might be a bit daunting and uncomfortable.

I’ve seen Pokémon reusable pads before, there’s probably a wide variety of designs

to the person above asking if they have gender neutral designs, they actually do
