“…the neat sorting-out of books into age-groups, so dear to publishers, has only a very sketchy relation with the habits of any real readers. Those of us who are blamed when old for reading childish books were blamed when children for reading books too old for us. No reader worth his salt trots along in obedience to a time-table.”

Sea shanty about a crew disappearing at sea but as it’s sung fewer and fewer people are singing until it’s just one person left.

movie vs book (i adore them both)

How could you leave this in the notes, excellent addition

Actually, this makes the childification of Michael in the movie when he’s 15 in the book really funny:

Sophie, a 20-ish year old woman from a fantasy land where getting married at 16 or 17 does not seem to be unusual: Yes, this is a young man who is almost an adult.

Howl, a man in his late 20s from our world: This is a BABY and he does BABY things.

Another thing I love about Rottmnt is how well they animated the city. Like, I love the previous series but the city in it looked practically half zombie and dead. NYC does Not have a population of barely 30 people.

But in Rise? Hoo boy where do I even start?

The city as shown in Rise is bright and loud and colorful and so so alive!

I mean look at this! City that Never Sleeps? They definitely did the name justice.

Also, there's street traffic, a lot of it, even at midnight. The city is loud and busy even at that hour.

And the city's population shown in the movie! There are so many people all going about their own lives and the animators nailed it when showing how much life there is, especially when trying to compare it with Casey's future and the boy was overwhelmed in the crowd.

NYC here is busy and bustling and bright and populated and they went ahead with designing all those individual people so well to the point that everybody's personality shines through a bit even if they appear for a split second.

I mean, look at all these people!

They really went all out and designed so many of them. All those being background characters.

And even more awesome is the fact that even though the city is depicted bright and colorful and lively and full, the parts that are supposed to be silent and deserted still have their devoid of people and creepiness factor such as desolate harbours and empty back alleys.

Seriously the best depiction of NYC I've seen in TMNT.

The large flower heads of Hylotelephium 'Herbstfreude' (stonecrop, sedum) start as waxy green buds exactly the same colour as the leaves, these then open to pink starry flowers which age to red, and finally as brown seedheads for the winter.
