Help a poor anon who keeps seeing a lot of stuff about a wizard story but has no idea how to find it.

Wizard Story is being written as a very long twitter thread with audience participation and you can find the start of it here.

It’s a story about an Enchanter and a Wizard who must help each other save the life of a young princess who will die of a curse in 3 days. They must discover who cursed her and why, keep the political tensions between the royal family and a visiting (terrifying) elven king from devolving into bloodshed, while navigating the tension of the Enchanter and Wizard’s mysterious past together, and the pain of their old and new wounds.

It’s a fantasy second chance love story with several ongoing mysteries. It’s quite ambitious and I’ve never studied mystery writing, but I’m having fun with it. I plan on using it as a first draft of a novel. I know how it ends and I’m writing more of it every day.

If you don’t know how to use Twitter, when you get to the end of the line and don’t see any more of the story, click the last tweet. The thread of tweets keeps going for Iike 300 tweets, you just keep clicking on the last one to keep showing them.

Could not care less about whatever deity appears in the trailer. Literally doesnt matter. At absolute most it will be like, "oooooh Link im a god who had been here the entire tiiime, collect shinies to beat the final boss ooooh"

Who tf cares. Show me Ganon or die, im no longer asking

i love doing apologism for fictional characters. yes he killed people and ruined everything but thats ok bc i like him and hes my little baby. so who cares

I found out that my gloves had some dark stains on them, so I decided to refresh them a bit :D It was fun! Used alcohol-based marker for drawing.

hello, got a ff14 question if you don’t mind. can relate to your initial FF14 struggle so much… i died like 6 times in snowcloak and have keeper of the lake up next, i legit can’t sleep bc of the anxiety. why can’t i duty support this one… Q: was it difficult going from healer to tank? i cannot wait to switch to DRK but also i hate the online aspect of the game so much so if I suck it’s gonna end me I fear. on the brighter side you and nipuni got me into this game (kudos to yall) and i am not giving up until i finish EW, i need that da4 experience

omg, this gave me flashbacks. There's a few things that I wish I had known:

-healer is the most stressful class, because if you die, most of the time, everybody dies. And you have to somehow survive while healing everyone in instances that you've never seen before. Also, if you have outdated gear on, you will be able to heal less, so update your gear as much as you can. If you want less stress, switch to DPS or play Tank.

-you can unlock DRK the moment you step into the Firmament, but it unlocks at level 30. To use it as your main class, you will have to level it up to level 50, the same level as the content you're doing. Here's a guide to that. I recommend Palace of the Dead and Leveling Roulette.

-make sure that you're doing your Class Quests (a special questline dedicated to the class you're playing, that unlocks new skills and gives gear) - in the top left corner, you'll see the name of the Main Scenario quest, and if you have a Class Quest available that you haven't completed on your current job, it will be right below that, and you can click it.

As soon as you get to Shadowbringers and Endwalker, you will be able to play dungeons by yourself.

maybe take a pause and play the Crystal Tower 24-man raid series - it's side content that you have to complete to be able to continue the main story, and it's content where you don't have to play well because there will be another 5 healers healing while they eat pizza with their other hand. You should already have it unlocked. It starts with this quest.

It's very stressful for people who don't like multiplayer, but with some adjustments it can hopefully be more fun. DPS have a longer wait time, but it's because it's not as stressful to be DPS. Tanks have to lead the pace, and Healers have to heal. If you're terrible at DPS, it just makes it a little slower, but nothing bad happens. As healer, you may be getting the experience of having a very experienced Tank who pulls all the enemies in the whole level and then dies because they didn't notice you were new. A big part is the tank not balancing with a new healer. And many people are replaying these dungeons as speedruns to get leveling experience.

Anyway it's a huge hassle, and I remember being reduced to tears by not wanting to play with other people, but I promise the story is worth it. The DA devs on twitter were gushing about how good Endwalker is and how much they enjoyed the writing when it came out, and I honestly hope it inspires them.

Trope of the day is... joining the villain. For whatever reason. The good guys betrayed you, so you betray them. The bad guy actually has some good points. They pay a lot better and have health insurence. Or you always just liked the villains better.

It’s my birthday and I’m so happy because this birthday is the first birthday I’ve ever been in love 🥹😊

I'd been keeping the wizard story open in a tab since I discovered it (just in case you updated - not that it was likely with more XIV patches on the way) and just saw you'd gone private. I hope everything is okay with you and that if not, you're taking care of yourself. <3

Thank you, I’ve been having trouble with strangers being bored and out of school in the summer and wanting to scratch up drama by deliberately misunderstanding me, so I’m private for now. I’ll unlock when I update wizard story

eta - I really appreciate and am so humbled at the thought that people remember that little story experiment. I’ve been struggling in a GRRM kind of way with it simply because I haven’t written this complicated or long of a story before, and I’m doing it in such a strange way. So inevitability, i forget some details or a character tells me something or does something out of the blue that ruins the clues. I try to tell myself that it doesn’t matter what little details don’t match up, as long as the core feelings and ideas work, and that this is a first draft, but… yeah I guess it’s just not wanting to fail publicly. So thank you for your patience with me. When I feel embarrassed my natural response is to avoid even good things.

I’m supposed to be a writer, but ther are just no words to describe what it’s like to see my characters rendered by Nipuni. I am still stunned, and very overwhelmed, and all the little details make my heart sing. they are gorgeous, gorgeous, thank you so much

I’m WAY up in my feelings about Hades, omg.

(thinks about Endwalker in silence for several weeks) god that story is so good, huh.... that really happened

the end of ffxiv is so good I can’t even talk about it, and also the servers are so busy you’re not allowed to buy it or play it for free anymore, so I’m just sitting here like “wow that’s the best video game I’ve played, but I can’t even recommend it cause it’s not for sale and I can’t talk about it cause it would spoil it” so I just sit some more

i'm not sure i understand this well but did you mean you have to play as a lalafell to "romance" emet-selch? have a nice day/evening!

ah, no, I'm saying you have the option of playing as a lalafell, and so the writing of your relationship with every NPC needs to work whether you're a lalafell or a viera or a hyur. It needs to work for people who prefer to ship their character with another NPC. And it does. There are no hard dating game elements in FFXIV, and the story is the same for every player character who plays it.

And yet, I am trying to say that even with all of this being true, the writing is so subtle and clever that the relationships that you have with the NPCs (many of which you can interpret as romances) feel indulgent and loving and fulfilling. The subtlety and complexity and room for headcanon is very satisfying. If you need to press a button to have your character kiss an NPC, you should play another bioware romance, but I need to emphasise that a year or two ago, I would have said that that I needed explicit, on-screen romance, but this has taught me it isn't necessary for a good love story, when it is written by someone as talented as the woman who wrote this.

Anonymous asked:

just how canon is the emet-selch romance? i am considering playing the game but given that it takes like 60 hours to start getting to the good content and then spend $ on the expansions i am trying to really figure out if i am going to be into it. i really have a preference for canon romances rather than this-could-be-interpreted-as-romantic ships these days.

I almost replied to this with a simple "if you play through this whole entire game and regret it, I will refund you the money you spent" but I don't have any money to put on the line. But I still feel that way.

it's an mmorpg where you can play as a lalafell, and so it has to work under those constraints. AND YET. It does. Somehow. Extremely romantically. The writing is extremely clever.

I'm not sure how to explain it without spoilers. if you have similar taste in romantic ships as me, trust me about this. The expansion (Endwalker) that just came out to conclude the main storyline is somehow even better than the expansion (shadowbringers) that I have been gushing foolishly about for a year. The story is complete, and I don't want to hype it but the romance is so tender, sad, romantic and sweeping and mythical and beautiful, and makes me want to write fanfiction... it's exactly to my tastes
