is the world really such a terrible place? yesterday i asked if oat milk was extra and the barista said yes so i said ok just regular milk then and when she gave me my chai latte she whispered “i used oat milk ;)” doesnt that make u want to live another day?
here is my life philosophy: next week there might be someone ahead of you in line at the store who’s short a quarter and you have a quarter and you can give it to them. if you weren’t there, they’d have to put something back. the week after that you could be getting lunch and the waiter might ask if you want some pancakes someone else ordered and never picked up. you could find someone’s lost cat. you could watch someone’s bag while they go to the restroom. there are so many ways you are going to touch other people’s lives and they are going to touch yours and there’s no way to know when it’s going to happen. so you have to keep living!!! i wouldn’t want to die today knowing that tomorrow the barista will give me free oat milk just to be nice.
i know some people criticize the “put a bow on a creature so people know its a girl” approach to character design but come on this rules

How are speedrunners not even like.. employed as professional beta testers
consider this:
game dev: any bugs?
speedrunner: no.. i checked everything.. no bugs sir :)

i do QA testing on AAA games. speedrunners are considered throughout the testing process, and every once in a while we will log a bug or an exploit that can be considered useful for speedrunners, and the devs may deliberately choose to not fix the exploit.
sometimes either the exploit is left in, or it may be that it would be such an exhaustive rewrite of a lot of low level systems that fixing it just isn’t worth the time and effort when 99% of players won’t experience it playing normally.
consider the fact that a lot of exploits speedrunners use are usually involved with the physics engine, player controller, or some other significant core pillar of the game—to fix something like that would probably end up breaking hundreds of systems built on top of those core systems.
i for one have literally watched a speedrun of a game i worked on, where the runner used an exploit that i personally found and logged!
several of my coworkers are speedrunners in fact, and they end up finding some of the wildest bugs!
Each day I learn some more
I remember seeing a video of the Bugsnax devs watching a speedrun of their game, and while I only watched a bit of it I vividly remember one of them saying something like "We took out all the ways a player could unintentionally break the game, which just leaves all the ways they can INTENTIONALLY break the game."

Okay, this comparison is actually a better explanation than the one I wrote because that IS the intent of the original. The Simpsons gag is funny because the lawyer, Lionel Hutz, is afraid of a happy peaceful world. We are meant to laugh at how horrible he is for feeling that way. The Kelly cartoon, like most of his work, is the exact same joke. He agrees that it’s a good thing if cops stop arresting on drug possession, and that it’s absurdly dumb the family is crying over how that would affect crime shows. The family and the crying lady liberty are like the Simpsons lawyer, intentionally the “bad guys” of the comic and butt of the joke, referencing the fearful way Republicans see the world. The “sickos” meanwhile are a joke on how said Republicans see you and I for holding fairly reasonable views.
This is the gimmick of many of his comics, but many others are just deliberately indecipherable nonsense to make fun of political cartoons in general :)
