Giving up Artificial Sweetener Update
So it’s been almost 10 weeks since I started cutting back on Diet Pepsi and I’m am pleased to say that I’m down to only a couple of sips a day and I’m even going days without any. To go from somewhere around 72 ounces a day to none is more than I ever thought I’d be able to do.
Of course, because it’s my fucking weird body, I have not lost any weight. I gained about 3 pounds then have fluctuated around that point. It’s maddening as hell, but that’s just how my Scots Irish metabolism works, I guess. Deny my body anything and it goes, “Must be a famine! Hold on to those pounds!”
However, I have noticed a marked change in the inflammation in my joints and in my IBS symptoms. Like, a MAJOR difference in my IBS, so much that I wonder if artificial sweetener was a large cause. It’s so different that I’m going to talk to my doctor next time I see her about it.
I’m also noticing that my blood sugar is more balanced; it still goes up and down, but not as high and is more likely to be at a moderate middle. That, my friends, is worth the work it’s taken to get here.
So I guess this is a permanent thing now.
