I’m baaack - admittedly, mostly because I’m in Facebook jail, but also I’ve been feeling shitty on Facebook lately because I invariably find myself yelling at strangers (see also: in Facebook jail). Wisconsin in general and Milwaukee in particular (though not any worse than Madison...) are Wild N Out with Nick Cannon out here! The bars are open and people are going there! The gay bars are open and ‘mos are going there, and we have learned NOTHING from HIV! There’s a HUGE beer garden just down the street from me that I’m considering taking photos of because it’s so close and it’s so dystopian! Of all the dangerous shit to do in A LITERAL PLAGUE, getting drunk is one of the easiest things you can do at home! Pick up some Discount Liquor curbside, get fucked up, and get on Twitch - that’s what Twitch is for! And obviously for those who are outside of the U.S.: yeah, WOW, we are shitting the bed so hard here! And we’re preparing to sacrifice our children for the sake of... I mean, nothing, honestly. “Normalcy” is a distant memory, not to mention a pipe dream. My own personal standards are conservative (uh, health-wise) as always: aside from three people who are isolated AF, all I’m doing are picking up food and meds and hanging out at home! I trained for my new job as a peer phone support counselor (it sounds fancy, I just talk to people), and I’m waiting to get hours... and I’m not too pressed about it, if I’m honest. The building I’ll be in is almost empty in the evenings when I’ll be there and I shave a decent-sized room with one other person. I only got trained last month, which surprised me because I was supposed to get trained in February (and then March, which... yeah) and that’s when calls reasonably jumped DRAMATICALLY. So at least it’s a way to be productive. Other than literally constant trauma, though, um... I’m kinda living my best life? I think most people with OCD and (C)PTSD are right now! I’m going to the pool most days (my condo project has a pool; invariably I’m the only person *in* the pool while my neighbors hang out *by* the pool... where the germs are... so yeah). I have two tomato plants which I have named Jujubee and Miss Vanjie for staying power, I’ve dipped a sizable toe into making liquor infusions (I recommend it highly - it’s super easy, not particularly expensive, and fun - and this is coming from someone who doesn’t drink!). I also finally got an Xbox One - ostensibly to play Fallout 4 finally, and WOW is that ever the worst-written Fallout game, but I mostly use it to watch YouTube and digital drag shows. Relatedly, if you’re not following drag performers Dora Diamond (Milwaukee), Degrassi Knoll (Chicago), and Charity Kase (London), I legit don’t know what your priorities are.
“[D]oing what was necessary to bring the coronavirus under control would have been annoying, but entirely feasible.
But that was the road not taken. Instead, many states not only rushed to reopen, they reopened stupidly. Instead of being treated as a cheap, effective way to fight contagion, face masks became a front in the culture war. Activities that posed an obvious risk of feeding the pandemic went unchecked: Large gatherings were permitted, bars reopened.
And the cost of those parties and open bars extends beyond the thousands of Americans who will be killed or suffer permanent health damage as a result of Covid-19’s resurgence. The botched reopening has also endangered something that, unlike drinking in groups, can’t be suspended without doing long-run damage: in-person education.
Some activities hold up fairly well when moved online. I suspect that there will be a lot fewer people flying cross-country to stare at PowerPoints than there were pre-Covid, even once we finally beat this virus.
Education isn’t one of those activities. We now have overwhelming confirmation of something we already suspected: For many, perhaps most students there is no substitute for actually being in a classroom.
But rooms full of students are potential Petri dishes, even if the young are less likely to die from Covid-19 than the old. Other countries have managed to reopen schools relatively safely — but they did so with much lower infection rates than currently prevail in America, and with adequate testing, which we still don’t have in many hot spots.
So we’re now facing a terrible, unnecessary dilemma. If we reopen in-person education, we risk feeding an out-of-control pandemic. If we don’t, we impair the development of millions of American students, inflicting long-term damage on their lives and careers.
And the reason we’re in this position is that states, cheered on by the Trump administration, rushed to allow large parties and reopen bars. In a real sense America drank away its children’s future.”
Breaking News (literally): Protesters have toppled the Christopher Columbus statue at the Minnesota State Capitol
here's a carrd to send pre written emails to ask for justice for several of the victims of police brutality and racism
Heads up, everyone should be writing their letters, it’s easy to set up a filter and send pre-written emails directly to the trash bin or a spam folder, and it’s even more likely to happen with a hostile force like the police.

This is critical!!!
I’m Doctor Gregory House. I am a Board certified diagnostician with a double specialty in infectious disease and nephrology. If you’re particularly annoying, you may see me reach for this: this is Vicodin. It’s mine. You can’t have any. And no, I do not have a pain management problem, I have a pain problem. (insp.)

Gather 'round. I'm going to tell you a vital secret about how trans people need your support and what you can do to be a good trans ally. Do you know what feeds trans people? What clothes trans people? What houses trans people? MONEY! Trans people are an *economically* disadvantaged class for a wide variety of reasons - AND YET we still live under capitalist regimes, need to live, need to eat, need to have a roof over our heads, need to have clothes that we feel comfortable in, PLUS the cost of hormones, surgeries, and treatments. What you think of as luxuries ARE ALSO OUR LUXURIES - just because YOU don't require hormones, or surgeries, or "cosmetic" treatments to maintain your personal safety and emotional status quo does not make these things some kind of luxury! AND THESE THINGS ALL COST MONEY! Surgeries require recovery time - that's money! Laying in bed with aloe on your puffy face IS ALSO MONEY! Having one wardrobe in one gender of clothing and another wardrobe in another gender of clothing IS A LOT OF MONEY! So, as an economically disadvantaged class, WE NEED MONEY! Therefore, the greatest thing you can do as a trans ally - beyond voting for people who have so much as heard of trans people in passing! - is to PAY US! Buying books? There are trans owned and operated publishing houses - PAY THEM! Looking for an educational speaker on the subject of gender and trans people? PAY THEM! Like a trans YouTube creator? Join their Patreon, give them a tip on Paypal, Venmo them some cash! I *know* you know how to use Google - you can find a trans person who can do something that you would be willing to pay a cis person to do! There are countless GoFundMe and YouCaring pages devoted to trans people who are trying to pay rent, pay for surgeries, get on hormones, STAY on hormones, move - especially from unsafe circumstances! - and feed themselves and their pets. We're not necessarily talking about a lot of money TO YOU, but it can make a world of difference! My PERSONAL hormones - with syringes - cost a minimum of $70 for a six-month supply. That's roughly $10 a month - but if you don't MAKE $10 in a month, or that $10 goes to rent or food, guess what? You're probably sacrificing your hormones. Do you have a car? Expensive, right? It's not less expensive for trans people! And trans people who get stranded or can't afford to buy or own or keep a car typically have to weigh whether they would like to risk their lives or their comfort to go to their job, go to therapy, go to doctor's appointments, go get medications, go get food, go see friends. Do you have a friend who is trans and you think they might be struggling? CHECK IN! ASK WHAT COULD HELP! List some things you could reasonably offer - could you offer a ride? Could you offer a trip to the grocery store? Could you offer some shelf-stable foods? Could you offer a gift card that you're not going to use? Because a lot of trans people are NOT ABLE to live "paycheck to paycheck" - they are living day to day. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Don't forget to tip your waitresses, bartenders, and performers.
i’ve been on this hellsite for almost ten years do you know how many times people have threatened protests and petitions and how many actually worked? none
the only time they actually reversed a decision is when they got rid of replies for like a week and then brought them back
I’d be interested to know how many accounts are actually deleted or abandoned after tonight, but I don’t know that it will be all that many. But the ban alone will choke off a great deal of quality content, as will constrained and upset creators.
