I wanted to make an album that I cared about, that represented me and my influences, that I wanted to play every night and not half-assed. I also wanted to trust my songwriting like I knew that I could write to a certain – you know how it’s like, you go on runs of writing two or three songs in a row and be like ‘UH, THAT WAS GOOD!’ and then for the next five you’re just like ‘eh, won’t be releasing that’. Sometimes fans ask you ‘when are you gonna relese songs that didn’t make the album?’ There’s a reason why they’re not on the album! They’re horrific! But yeah, I wanted to trust my abilities and kinda have fun with it, I wanted to introduce my fans to a newer type of music, stuff that they probably laugh at their parents for listening to and yeah just kinda have fun while doing it.
