I read the description and though “surely it’s not actually like that”

The contrast between the unbelievably extra voice acting and the extremely stiff and emotionless animation is what really makes this a masterpiece.

Inspired by @dressesandcapes I wanted to do my own 28 days of black cosplay. 1 cosplay for each day of February.

Today, I’m showing off my favorite Disney character cosplay so far: Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. As a goth, I’ve ALWAYS loved this movie and wanted to challenge myself with how to make myself into the Pumpkin King. Or in this case, the Pumpkin Queen. Also this is my first time cosplaying Disney royalty. Cosplay made by me and my stellar spine heel shoes are from Amazon.

As a Black cosplayer, I’ve long since realized that cosplayers in the black community don’t get there just dues and appreciation for the work they do. We are always called “variants” or “(insert character name) if they were black”. I think it’s time we break that negative stigma and show appreciation for cosplayers of color.

I realize I’m already 1 day behind. 2 posts to make up for it tomorrow!

not only have tiktok and instagram given everyone who makes art Content Machine disease, but the contentification of the process of making art itself (artists posting hyper-stylized tiktoks & reels about the process of making art, forced jokes about being an artist, and "lifestyle" tips on how to #selfcare (with the express purpose of not burning out so you can continue to make more Content) because that's what the algorithm forces them to do in order to get any eyes on their actual artwork) makes me want to pull my hair out & scream & stab someone. something something the cannibalizing of the tail of the snake by the snake, squared. EVIL

I can't wait until one of these billionaires moves a whole ass Scottish castle to New York City and perches it on top of a skyscraper, breaking a thousand year old curse and releasing my gargoyle boyfriend from his stone prison.
