Owl House Twitter was talking about scrapped storyboards recently, and it reminded me of how different the Hunting Palismen storyboard was compared to the final version - differences in expression, but dialogue too. The standout is this, when Belos goes to strike Hunter:
In both, Hunter's expression doesn't change during the attack. He's frozen. But in the first, it's a look of shock and fear. In the second, he's tense but... hardened, resigned. He knew to brace for it and flinch away the second he saw the telltale signs in Belos' body language, whereas in the first version, he looks caught flat-footed.
I imagine Dana seeing the original storyboard and explaining that Hunter isn't surprised or terrified, as this isn't the first, second, or third time this has happened. (Where do you think his ear nick came from?) His reaction should reflect years of such treatment. For him, it doesn't even register as abuse, but a warranted rebuke for “speaking out of turn,” and he apologizes, voice steady.
(Also, in the storyboard, Belos is more outwardly aggressive, warning Hunter, "Do not upset me." But in the final version, his lines are more manipulative, telling him, "I know you can do better, Hunter." And Hunter's hollow, sad smile gets me every time.)
