Reasons why I can't fathom why people speak in the favour of Snape ( first 20 canon and the rest things that should be canon but for some reason aren't??):
1) He begged for only Lily's life to be spared. He couldn't give any fucks about James nor Harry (who was the child of the prophecy after his actions)
2) He bullied students for no fucking reason
3) He created Sectumsempra to use against the marauders
4) He then cast Sectumsempra at James' FACE which could've left him blind, with permanent scarring or DEAD. It thankfully only caught his cheek however the wound still dripped blood down his face and onto his robes.
5) He is Nevilles boggart and a lot of students are terrified by him
6) He makes fun of Hermione for being a good student who wants to learn
7) He makes Neville give his potion to his pet in an attempt to poison it.
8) He punishes Neville for asking Hermoine to help him with his work after the pet shrinks instead of dying.
9) In HBP when Harry came to Hogwarts covered in blood he couldn't give a flying fuck and punished him. If he'd known Malfoy had done it, he wouldn't have cared and Malfoy would of gone without any punishment himself
10) He makes fun of what Hermoine looks like. It's worse in context. When Draco and Harry were having a stand-off the hexes hit bystanders. This resulted in Hermione's teeth growing very long. Upon arriving on the scene Snape tells Hermione that he sees no difference and immediatly sends Goyle to the hospital wing
11) He disgustingly favours the Slytherins. Not in a normal way, a biased way.
12) He called Lily a slur and was a blood supremacist and had an issue when she didn't want to be friends with him anymore. He also dropped a branch on Petunia (deliberately) so no wonder she didn't really want to be friends with him
13) He willingly became a death eater and didn't regret it
14) He betrays Voldemort only for Lily. No change of heart, he just did it because of Lily.
15) He ignores baby Harry in his crib and cradles Lily's dead body (the creep) and then leaves. He leaves Harry in the crib.
16) He tries to tell everyone about Remus' lycanthropy. Once in PoA and probably multiple of times whilst they were still at Hogwarts
17) He makes fun of Tonk's patronus which reflected Remus (whilst Snape's himself COPIES Lily's)
18) He gets angry when Harry defended himself in their Occlumency lessons
19) He uses his childhood as an excuse to do bad things (just like Snape stans do) IT DOESN'T EXCUSE ANYTHING
20) He doesn't show remorse for what he had done. Ever. Like, alright he sacrificed himself but he was never sorry for what he had done.
21) He bullied the marauders back. You can't tell me he didn't. He wasn't hopeless, he had his Slytherin friends, they definitely retaliated.
22) He knew Peter was the spy. He had to. Like, they were both death eaters. Peter went to the meetings. Snape went to the meetings. JKR says he didn't but how the fuck did he not? Oh no, wait, it's yet another plot hole.
I can think of so many other things but Snape was worse than the marauders. Period.
