ID: a cat lying on its stomach. the hand taps its fingers in time to the four start sounds, then starts vigorously rubbing the cat’s belly when the music starts, much to the cat’s surprise and disgust

Masha The Hero
They forgot the part where the ambulance actually stopped to let the cat in
oh good I was worried
What a good cat. What a kind cat. How can anyone not love cats they are so good and loving.
they also forgot the part where they only found the baby because masha was screaming her head off bc she knew this baby was in danger. she went around outside the alley the next morning and yelled at passerby until she got one to follow her to the baby. she kept him warm all night and then made sure someone found him. she was adopted after this bc she was a stray and is in a loving home and is a hero
Hero cat
Thank you, Masha, you’re such a good girl.
I always wanted to know what to call it.
This is something I’ve been meaning to talk about, and I may do a full blog post at some point, but here’s a capsule version:
The Benign Violation Theory of humor, which is probably the best one out there, suggests that something is perceived as funny when it is simultaneously perceived as violating how the world “should” work and as benign. Something like the “gun” meme, for example, is funny because it violates our sense of how a joke should progress, and at the same time it’s harmless.
Racist/sexist/etc shock humor violates our sense of how the world work–in either a “that’s not true!” or “you’re not allowed to say that!” way–and therefore whether you find it funny is based on whether you find it benign, which is to say either you think it’s harmless or you don’t care about the people it harms. (This is the root of the punch up/kick down distinction–jokes that punch up are funnier than jokes that kick down because the people they target are less vulnerable and therefore less likely to experience harm.)
So yes, science agrees that if you think racist jokes are funny, the reason is that you don’t care about the feelings of the people the joke is about. There’s a word for that.
hyperfixating on this is not enough i need to eat it
Christians with jesus christ
why is there a new popular post with a joke about eucharist every week on this website
Inflation’s up, supply chains are breaking, and Jesus feeds the poor.
Surprise triplets 😂
I can’t decide what’s funnier, if this was a genuine candid photo of the father’s shock, or if he was an excellent sport and was like “hey folks, know what would be hilarious…”
“Yknow, Ted, the guys at the bar are gonna wanna know what it was.”
“Bring the photo! It’ll be funnier if you bring the photo.”
Story Time!
My father, who is an identical twin, has two older sisters who were also identical twins. My grandfather’s favourite way to tell the story was that in 1956 when he was awaiting the arrival of 🤷♀️ Child™️, the doctor (who, in the small town where we’re from, had delivered my aunts a few years earlier) came to the lounge, lit a cigarette and took a seat next to him.
“Clifford… how are ya?” the doctor greeted.
“I’m alright… yourself?”
“Good, good…good, so how many ya want this time?”
My grandfather, even in the retelling of the story heaved the most world weary sigh and said, “…how many ya got?”
These remind me of Jim Woodring’s Frank comic meets Persona.
this post really gets so much better with age
And many who didn't die now have to live with permanent disability that prevents them from holding any kind of job (especially because employers are so opposed to making the work accessible).
Those who are able-bodied and still remain have left to fill the higher-paying vacancies left behind by the newly deceased/disabled.
Of course Dec 2021, January, and February of 2022 would see so many people infected even the optimistic CDC estimated 50% of the entire population in the US had caught COVID. They also estimate between 10% to 30% of the people who catch COVID, suffer Long COVID. So what’s 50% (1/2) of 10-30%? Oh, between 5-15%. Our country is used to unemployment rates in the 2-6% and kind starts looking at policy shifts when you hit either end of that spectrum, but stacking on a massive drop in a 3 month period? Nevermind the whole 2 years prior people have been gettiing sick. Nevermind the since March the numbers have gone up and are the 2nd highest since that atrocity spike of infection that started this year.
In 2020 & 2021 the numbers sent down in May/June/July as summer meant schools were out and people were outdoors in sunlight - however this year the numbers have only risen. When we hit mid/late August/Sept when schools go back, it will be even more than before.
And yet no mask mandates, no vaccine mandates, they cut the mandatory sick leave for COVID. Please stay home, please wear a mask, please avoid crowds. They do not care if you die.
He's coming along nicely (:

Another Richard Update
He has mold now.
They're saying this disparagingly btw. But god forbid the demographic with the highest male suicide rates talk about their feelings, what has become of western values etc
Everything Everywhere All At Once Blooper Reel
It’s about Evelyn saying “sometimes I wonder how he would have survived without me“, then we realised Alpha Waymond proceeded to live without his Evelyn and continued to find other Evelyns, and would still look at them lovingly, because he knows them, and maybe even hold their faces while talking to them. And then we were hit with CEO Waymond who was even successful, without Evelyn, but at the end CEO Waymond still said, “in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you.”
So yes Evelyn, he could survive without you. He just prefers surviving with you.
