IF YOU CAN'T COMMISSION ME, PLEASE REBLOG

I’ve seen a lot of people claim that Ron was “underserving” of Kim or that “he wasn’t good enough for her”.

And lately I’ve seen a lot of negative comments directed to it’s character for example the wiki is very negatively biased towards his character and of his relationship with Kim.

Not so long ago there was this fake Kim possible AMA made on Reddit where a person impresionantes Bob-Schooley and under this they spoke very ill of Ron’s character saying that he and Kim had no chemistry, that he was a very bad and one-dimensional character and that he and Kim’s relationship wasn’t “pleasant”.

All of this while they kept on praising Kigo and what saddens me the most is that because this person was faking being the co-creator of the show many people believe them and some people even began backing him up saying stuff like that they never liked Ron or the fact that he ended up with Kim.

And it seems like compared to other “friends to lovers” ships (Danny x Sam, Marinette x Adrien, Star x Marco, Keith x Lance)

I feel like from all of them KimRon is one of the most underrated. I don’t see many people making art or stories about them.

It also seems there were many people who thought Ron was undeserving of Kim? Or they she “could have done better” Do you think this is true? Why do you think people say that? Or have this reaction?

Avatar

Kim was undeserving of Ron, if anything. No, no, I’m kidding, I’m kidding. I kinda had to. This entire issue is just kinda silly. Also, it took me a long time to answer this one because I don’t like spreading negativity. I’m sorry if the reply below comes off as angry or upset - I swear I’m not. I’m just being down to earth. And tired.

If the creators disliked Ron, they wouldn’t plan Kim x Ron from the beginning, and they wouldn’t focus so much on Ron’s character throughout the entire series. You know how Phineas and Ferb is named after Phineas and Ferb, but Candace and Doofenshmirtz are actually main characters with actual arcs and character development? Ron kinda falls into that category, too. Of course I still think Kim is a fully realized character in her own right, but Ron isn’t just a supporting character, he is a main character too, because we spend just as much time with him as we do with Kim, and there’s a lot of focus put on him and his character development.

Because of that, Ron is probably the most developed and interesting character in the entire series, and stating otherwise isn’t even a bad take - it’s just wrong.

Also, let’s get something important out of the way - I am Shego’s age. If you told me to choose between the mad scientist malewife and the minor, I hope it’s not surprising I’d obviously go with the mad scientist malewife, like, this isn’t even a competition. However, some people out there think Shego would choose differently, and frankly, I think it’s quite disgusting and offensive to her character.

(Although it’s okay to headcanon Shego as a lesbian too! Especially if she was your sexual awakening. Trust me, I also started questioning myself because of Shego. Just… don’t ship her with a child, lmao)

Here’s a thing though - if I told people shipping a fourteen-year-old with a woman in her late twenties is bad, and they still wouldn’t have problems shipping it, then there’s not much I can do about it, is there? I won’t go to war over a fictional ship from a twenty-year old show, because I’m an adult with taxes to pay, and internet trolls are just simply beneath me and not worth my time.

Which brings me to another point - I think the reason KimRon seems unpopular in comparison to those other ships you mentioned is simply because it’s old. It’s literally twenty years old, and at this point, I’ve met people who have never even heard about Kim Possible before. (I suppose there’s an argument to make that Danny Phantom is an old show too but the fandom’s still alive, but the truth is - I was there, Gandalf, and Danny Phantom has always been more popular, even back in the 2000s. It’s just how it’s always been. I don’t have a scientific explanation for this one, chief.)

Ship negativity below - skip the strike-through paragraph if you don’t want to read it; Also, I think it’s funny because I dislike all the ships you just mentioned. I already said what I think about Danny and Sam here. I think Sta//r//co had the biggest potential of being like KimRon but they fell into the same trap as Marinette and Adrien AKA taking too long to get anywhere and tripping over problematic shit on their way, which made those ships super unlikable to me, like, even if I shipped them before, I just can’t anymore, because I don’t enjoy them. And Kl//a//nce isn’t even canon. Realistically, there was Potential, but all they got were very vague/lowkey queerbaiting scenes and that’s it. I genuinely feel so sorry for people who fell for it. But yeah, KimRom is just soo much better than all of those, it’s not even a competition.

Maybe it’s my demi ass talking, but I really love how KimRon started with them being just childhood friends, and then having the most natural friends to lovers development ever. It wasn’t in your face, there wasn’t that much drama around it, it was pretty much perfect. And people are still allowed to dislike it. But I don’t.

I think people who hate Ron are simply bitter their “lesbian” ship ain’t canon, so they feel the need to shit on this clearly amazing, enby-coded character for “getting in the way”, but I gotta be real with y’all - you won’t find good WLW content in this 2000s cartoon made by male boomers. …What you're looking for is in the Owl House, made by openly bisexual Dana Terrace. It’s there, and it’s canon, I promise. Go watch it. It’s good.

EMERGENCY DONATIONS NEEDED!!!

Hi, my name is Bianka (they/them). You may have seen my art around tumblr. I make very little money from it. Lately, inflation has been causing a mess in my country, and I went from doing OK to suddenly being told I can’t afford my apartment anymore. I will be forced to move out in June, unless I have enough money to stay. I’m also struggling with severe anxiety disorder and heart problems, so, needless to say, I am terrified.

$0/$700

05/01/2022 UPDATE: $403/$700 Almost there! Keep reblogging!

05/11/2022 UPDATE: $804/$700 We did it!! Aaah! (More info below!)

I also have a Patreon, where I post my stuff regularly, so if you feel like my art has any value, you can follow me there as well! Even dollar a month helps! Now more than ever, I need your support!

But that’s not all! My laptop is broken beyond repair, and I’m forced to share the current one with my partner. It’s not ideal and I need my own equipment. But that also requires money. So…

I am now open for COMMISSIONS!

I will draw your OC, or a character from the cartoon you like! USD only, payment through Paypal. I reserve the right to turn away any commission and will not draw mecha, NSFW, gore or hate art. Prices may vary depending on the complexity of the character. Please give me references for your characters! Colored commissions require colored references. Commissions are still open, and your reblogs are still very much appreciated! But seriously, thank you again, so so much! You guys are the best! <3

Sorry I was gone for a while. I’ve spent the last few months role-playing as Beast Boy with my friends. I have a love-hate relationship with DC, so maybe that’s why writing Beast Boy’s arc myself feels so satisfying.

Anyway, if you don’t want to miss any of my art, my Patreon is the only place where I post regularly, and with the inflation kicking my country’s ass, I could really use some cash right now, so any support is GREATLY appreciated. You could also buy me a coffee if Patreon isn’t your cup of tea.

Grand sized me didn’t had to be so fatphobic.

They correlated being fat with being bad and a jerk and they made Ron act extremely out of character.

They said the episode was mandatory made by disney, but it really didn’t had to be that bad.

Avatar

Considering it's kinda based on the 2004 documentary Super Size Me, which was criticized for its lack of scientific value? I'm not surprised it's this bad and dated.

Heya! I saw your previous Milo Murphy's Law art about Cavendish and Dakota and I really wanted to say that I loved it, but giving your blog a proper check now I see that you're into Kim Possible and I also love the show a ton! So here's a small question coming from me: What would you say was your favorite moment from the show and what was the worst moment?

Avatar

Thanks a lot! :D Not sure which show we're talking about here anymore, so I'll give my answer to both!

Best MML Moment: It's either the Bootstrap Paradox gag, or the reveal that Cavendish keeps dying and Dakota keeps going back in time, duplicating himself to save him. Also, pretty much every Bradley moment because I enjoy this character a lot. Worst MML Moment: I haven't seen this show in a while, but I'm pretty sure most of the Lady Krillers episode is unwatchable.

Best KP Moment: I'm really biased, but my favorite moments are all Drakgo moments from Emotion Sickness, and their almost-hug from Graduation. If we're talking not-Drakgo moments, then I love when Wade leaves his room for the first time and shows up with an explosion like a badass. Oh, and also Senior Senior Junior singing Quit Playing Games With My Head. This one's iconic. Worst KP Moment: All the fatphobic moments from the Grande Size Me episode.

I've seen some antis say that Kim loved Eric more then Ron based on how she acted in both relationships, ignoring Ron while she was with Eric(also how she was willing to use the Battle suit to "save" him despite not testing it first) and how she spent alot of time with "Good"Shego in that one episode instead of hanging with Ron. Wanted to know your thoughts

Avatar

I think it's really silly to waste time on insisting Kim was more in love with a person she was dating for... was it even a month? Less? Not to mention that person was literally evil and plotting against her from the start, making the entire relationship fake from the beginning. People will hate on anything they don't like, but the truth is - Kim and Ron were friends first and lovers seconds and that already makes their relationship 100% more stable and healthier, and their occasional moments of disagreements don't change that - if anything, it only proves they're good for each other, if they're always able to reconcile.

I’ve seen a couple of people comment on this and although I don’t personally agree with this I think it makes for an interesting discussion.

I think it become obvious through the first three seasons that Kim began developing feelings for Ron and I personally believe she was going to ask him to prom before Eric showed up.

Maybe this is why Kim moved on so quickly from Eric because she was already wanted to ask Ron, maybe she got scared because or Bonnie’s comments and because Ron at first didn’t seems that interested (but that was because he was already content with being his friend).

Still I’ve seen some people claim that Kim moved on very quick from Eric and that may that would make Ron a rebound, do you think that’s true?

Avatar

She was absolutely going to ask Ron to prom. As friends. Because she didn’t realize she fell in love with him yet.

She kept procrastinating asking him out, because of Bonnie’s comments and the overall peer pressure. All cheerleaders were dating jocks or captains of some teams, and Kim just desperately wanted to be like the others and fit in. Kim knows she’s different - she says so when she confides in Monique (“I'm weirding guys out! They see me on TV, round housing some goon out of a window!”). But she’s also a teenager, and she still figures herself out. What she and Ron have is unique, and she just doesn’t realize how good it is yet. For now, she just wants to be like the other girls, and no one else had a close childhood friend like she had, so she compares her situation to “going out with just-a-friend, this is so sad”.

Kim kissed Ron under the mistletoe. She was jealous of Felix. She was jealous of Yori. She started acting awkwardly after she suggested Ron should bring a date to his cousin’s wedding. She constantly kept repeating she likes him just the way he is.

Ron was never Kim’s rebound (he was a rebound to Bonnie, actually, later on. It’s in-text too, after Bonnie kisses him, he literally says he was never a rebound before, lol). Kim moved on from Eric quickly, because 1) Eric was a traitor who hurt her, and he wasn’t even real, and 2) because she loved Ron all this time. Again, she just didn’t realize it yet.

This isn’t even subtext, this is text. As in, it’s literally in the song that plays at the end of So the Drama, look;

I know we've been friends forever But now I think I'm feeling something totally new And after all this time I've opened up my eyes Now I see you were always with me Could it be you and I Never imagined Could it be, suddenly I'm falling for you Could it be you were right here beside me And I never knew

Only after Ron confessed his feelings, something in Kim’s mind clicked. She just wasn’t aware of the childhood friends to lovers trope, that fool :’)

What do you think Ron and Kim’s stances on gender roles? It’s not that apparent when they were children but as teens it’s a different story. Kim opposed Ron being a cheerleader since it’s a traditional girl’s sport though it originally started by men. Kim overlooked Shego being the supreme one since she figured world domination thing a “guy thing” as she puts it. Ron has his bias when it comes to how the female mind works.

Avatar

It probably comes from the fact that the show was written by boomers they were raised and lived in the 90s and early 2000s. Though, I wouldn’t exactly blame them for being a little biased, especially since they’re both teenagers who still figure things out. I don’t believe any of them have any malicious intent, they’re just a bit ignorant.

With that being said, I fully believe that Ron is non-binary, or at least gender non-conforming, and I am THRILLED to point that out. Here’s some proof I’ve collected:

  • Feels comfortable in women's clothing. (For example, when he dressed up as a ballerina for Halloween, when he was little. Or when he switched brains with Kim, and said, “I dig this wardrobe. The breeze is quite refreshing.”)
  • Keeps forgetting he’s not supposed to enter girls’ restrooms (my favorite example is a scene from So The Drama, where Kim keeps him out of the ladies’ room, and he literally looks in the camera like in The Office).
  • Those lines exist:

Mr. Stoppable: [The Bar Mitzvah certificate] is not what makes you a man. Ron: It's the only proof I've got.

Ron: Laser lipstick. Sweet. Hey, how come Wade never makes me cool toys? Kim: That time you practically melted your fingers? Ron: Ugh. It looked like regular nail polish.

Old Lady: Oh, Sassy doesn't like men so much. Ron: No, no, look, I'm like, barely a man!

Mr. Barkin: Just couldn't follow the graduation dress code. Non-conformist punk!

How would Kim react if Ron ever matched her consistently? Be the man with a plan and be as smart as he was when he was Zorpox?

Avatar

To be honest, she’d probably be weirded out by it, simply because it’s something she’s not used to. It wouldn’t be something completely new, though - Ron’s already pretty smart and had his moments when it comes to planning. I think the biggest change here would be the level of confidence, and Ron gained much more of it when he became Zorpox.

This is a sort of opinion/observation/headcanon of mine, that Ron is constantly worried about everything - about the safety of others, about what others will think of him, about letting people down. But when he became evil, he lost those worries (because he wouldn’t care about that while being evil), therefore became more confident, and with more confidence, he became more competent.

I also think his monkey powers are linked to his confidence. Getting those powers in the first place was a confidence boost he needed to defeat Monkey Fist, which is why he fought so well during that first time. He was determined to save Yori and help her on the mission (episode “Exchange”), which is why he defeated Fukushima with ease. He was pissed off and full of adrenaline (episode “Big Bother”) which is, again, why he fought so well. Then, in the episode “Stop Team Go” he does some sweet flips when he becomes evil again.

The episode “Oh No! Yono!” is a different story. Sensei, Rufus and Kim all got turned into stone, and he just found out everyone was counting on him to train Hana kung fu, but he failed, and because of that, his baby sister was in grave danger. It was just too much weight at once, he was too stressed, he was alone, and he had no confidence whatsoever - therefore no powers.

And then, during “Graduation”, Sensei showed up again, and instead of telling him he was supposed to do something he didn’t even know about, he told him he was ready. Simple as that. And that validation must have meant a lot to Ron, because it unlocked something within him, and he was able to defeat the aliens in a spectacular fight. There is no secret ingredient, Kung Fu Panda style.

Sorry for this little detour. Anyway, I imagine during his college years, Ron would be a bit more confident than he was in his high school years, and therefore more competent. Not exactly on the Zorpox level, but pretty close. And Kim would be surprised by this change for sure, but I think she’d eventually get used to it - it’s not like Ron’s character development was a bad thing, after all.

It’s OC-tober, and even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to participate everyday, I promised myself to make at least one OC-related post this month. I’ve also been meaning to make a height chart since forever, and this was a perfect opportunity!

[more info under the cut]

(Sorry about this Long ask, I just wanted to talk about this topic and wanted to know what you thought if it ) I wish Ron being affected by the attitudinator had lasted a little longer just to see how he would fare up against Kim and to see how Kim would’ve reacted/been affected by this.

Because Kim relies on Ron like you said he is her emotional support

I wonder how the episode “bad boy”could have gone down if the tone had been a little different.

Ron has been shown to be skilled and he is someone has known Kim all of his life.

It was also shown on some episodes like Overdue, Sink or swim, sick day and at the few times he was turn evil that he is very good at making plans.

Sink or swim was all about Ron being resourceful and witty, he outsmarted Gill by devising a plan to capture him, we see on sick day and overdue that with the help of Wade he carried on missions just fine.

And not to mention both times he turned evil.

(Being able to track Kim by using the kimmunicator, making a decoy plan, all the inventions he was able to create on such a short time etc.) now adding to this that he know Kim better than anyone.

I think if the show explored this more Ron could give Kim a run for her Money (while under the effects of the Attitudinator).

And the main reason I’m talking about this Is that I wish we could have seen (Though this is more fanfic territory) how all of this could possibly have affected Kim.

Like I said if that stand-alone episodes have lasted a little longer and if it had a different tone.

I wonder how Kim would have dealt with that situation and how it could have had affected her on a personal level, I also wonder how Ron would fare up against her one-on-one.

Not to mention how all of this events were never discussed nor dressed in the show (most likely because the focus has always been on the comedy aspect of the show).

I think this could go hand in hand (although indirectly) with what Ron did to the aliens in the finale, it would be interesting to see what the characters think of this events and how they could possibly address them and bring then up.

What would they (Kim and Ron) see and think of this events?

(I suppose this borders more fanfic territory, it’s just that is very fun to speculate what ifs scenarios)

Avatar

Ron is definitely capable, and if he was stuck under the influence of the attitudinator for longer, I’m sure he’d turn into Kim Possible’s greatest enemy. He knows everything about her, including her usual strategies and weaknesses. And in turn, I’m sure Kim would be devastated by that turn of events.

In fact, I’m pretty sure that in the cartoon they reversed it so quickly, because they didn’t want to deal with the consequences. It’s fun when a good guy turns evil for one episode, but it’s another story entirely for them to be stuck that way for a longer period of time.

I’m sure Kim would know that the real Ron is still in there somewhere, so the goal would always be to turn him back to normal, but the fact that he wouldn’t be by her side all this time, that she would be fighting against HIM? That’s devastating.

When Ron turned evil a second time, we see him trying to use the attitudinator on Kim, so I imagine that’d be another obstacle - Kim would have to not only save her friend, but be very careful not to become evil herself. Stakes would be high.

I also imagine Kim’s other friends (Monique and Felix) would offer to help, but she’d turn them down, saying it’s too dangerous, because she’d be terrified of losing more friends this way. Yeah.

The only help she wouldn’t turn down would be Wade’s (he wouldn’t let her ditch him, and she’d be grateful for that), and, welp, Drakken’s, since he’d be good this entire time, and he’d have to always be there, for the process of turning Ron back to normal. I’d say that’d give Kim and Drakken an opportunity to bond, but she’d probably be aware that this isn’t the real Drakken, so I’m not sure if she’d bother. (I imagine this entire situation would be too stressful for her to make small talk? Who knows.)

And after it’s all over and Ron turns good again, I imagine Kim would be simply relieved everything turned back to normal. I don’t think she’d be afraid of Ron, nor they’d discuss what happened in great detail - after all, her friend would be back, and she knew the reason why he acted this way, and she knew the real Ron would never harm her, so it’s better to leave all that in the past, right? She’d probably have to deal with the nightmares reminding her of those days, though. (Both of them. I imagine Ron would feel guilty for some time, despite Kim assuring him it wasn't his fault.)

If super villians have “rights” then why do they still get arrested? What’s considered the limit for criminal behavior? Where do each individual villian get the money to fund their crimes? What about other agents of Global Justice that we have yet to see?

Avatar

They get arrested when they commit a crime and get caught, lol. However, being registered as a supervillain doesn’t seem to be considered a crime.

Keep in mind that I didn’t create this show, so I don’t have all the answers of how this world works (the easiest way for villains to obtain money is to steal it, but maybe there are other means? I’m not sure. Same with Global Justice - there just isn’t enough information about them to bounce off of), but by simply observing, I think we can safely assume that the supervillains in Kim Possible have the right to:

1) Own a house/secret lair. There are several establishments that the supervillains are able to rent (and apparently landlording “secret” lairs isn’t illegal either), some looking very extra in the middle of suburban neighbourhoods, and it’s considered normal. The villains are free to do whatever experiments they wish in there. And it’s worth noting that “secret” lairs aren’t THAT secret, because it was shown multiple times that it’s not a problem to find them (Drakken’s mother does so repeatedly, even though Drew never gives her his address. If an older woman who doesn’t even know her son is a criminal can find his secret lair, then so can the police. But they never bother him, unless Kim Possible reports a crime).

2) Own legal documents centered around their profession. Most notably, Shego’s contract says Drakken can’t clone her, and that she has weekends off. Drakken’s goons (and Dementor’s goons) surely have contracts as well, it’s not like they work for bad guys because they agree with their ideals, they just do it for money. Monty Fiske mentioned he’d write a letter of recommendation for Fukushima, so he could continue his education, so uhh, apparently Monty Fiske can just do that, despite being a wanted criminal. Hank Perkins also exists (just… the entire character of Hank Perkins in general). And I didn’t even mention HenchCo, a huge, influential corporation that supplies the villains with weapons. The supervillains have an industry.

3) Have a public gathering, like conventions. They can do that without the police ever bothering them, even if they’re wanted criminals. (Also I’m not sure if it counts but Drakken and Shego attend the karaoke night every friday, so they’re regularly seen among the regular people, and the regular people seem very chill about it, no one ever reports them. Seeing villains in the bar is normal, apparently.)

4) And finally, and it’s something I find really interesting, the act of escaping prison, while frowned upon, doesn’t seem to make the police chase them? At least not for long. Wade has a way to find out if a villain escaped, so Kim’s the one who usually takes care of that, but from what we’ve seen, after a villain escapes the prison, they go into hiding, and when the police can’t find them, they can just go back home/secret lair, and the police do not bother them until they commit another crime. (And sometimes they don’t even go into hiding at all, they just straight up go home.)
