Super Dad
Conclusion: human evolution has always depended in part upon some unassuming father’s ability to literally backflip his child out of the jaws of death.

Art Lesson: Line Confidence & Shapes
As requested by @blondcurly
This is focused on the basics for people learning to draw, if you’d like something for the more experienced feel free to send an ask or hop into my dms
—LINE CONFIDENCE—
Line confidence is really important for honing ones art skills. It means the artist doesn’t need many lines for whatever it is they are drawing and usually improves the quality of said drawing.
That being said, the scratchy look can be good for specific things like making something appear creepy, show action, or look intense. But I recommend avoiding that unless you want everything to look creepy or intense.
Ways you can gain more line confidence is to make it impossible to take the lines you’ve drawn back.
If you’re drawing on paper you can use a pen instead of a pencil. That way you get used to committing to the lines you’ve draw and begin to draw better lines. I recommend either a ball point pen or a sharpie.
For digital art practice drawing without using the back button or eraser.
—SHAPES—
Anatomy is hard so it’s a good idea to practice breaking the body into shapes. Any shapes you want. If you like a softer art style keep the shapes round and if you like sharp then do angular shapes. It is art after all, not science. So have fun.
There are no rules when it comes to the shapes in art, it’s all a matter of style. If you want a more realistic style keep the shapes close in size to how they are in reality. If you want something more cartoony exaggerate those shapes and feel free to push the boundaries.
That’s all for now. I’ll gladly answer questions in the comments below and to any questions in reblogs
obtaining roms
edge emulation (missing some consoles; CD-based games come in compressed formats such as CHD; very fast DL speed)
cdromance (mostly has games for CD-based consoles; games come in uncompressed iso or bin/cue; has a lot of pre-patched rom hacks; medium-fast DL speed)
alvro collection spreadsheet (pretty much everything, including many newer consoles; slightly inconvenient to navigate; download site limits to 1 download every 30 mins, can be worked around with vpn; very fast DL speed)
planetemu (largely in french; has a lot of obscure titles other sites lack; fast DL speed)
script that lets you download from emuparadise post-shutdown (pretty much everything; medium DL speed; can occasionally be uncooperative)
ROMs Megathread/Archive (everything, really; slow DL speed; usually a last resort if you can't find something anywhere else)
i don't currently recommend vimm's lair due to very slow speeds and offering nothing that isn't on other sites
sites offering 3ds/switch games get shut down very frequently so i won't be linking them in order to keep this post from getting outdated but you can find them if you snoop around reddit (the 3dspiracy and switchpirates subs in particular) a little
softmodding and loading roms on some popular consoles:
recommended emulators and emulation guides:
romsets:
Cylum's Romsets (my personal favorite - not fully complete sets but heavily curated, so no going through a million revisions of the same game)
for 1fichier directories, you can use a tool like 1fichier-dl to download in bulk. i'd recommend doing this on the alvro collections if you want more complete sets.
netplay:
wanna play with your friends online?
fightcade covers nes, genesis, pc engine, dreamcast, along with a variety of arcade boards from capcom, snk, sega, and konami. it has snes as well, but it has input/performance issues. all platforms on it have rollback netcode.
mednafen covers psx, saturn, pc engine cd and sega cd, and i find its snes performance better personally. delay-based netcode with server structure. here's a pre-packed version with a gui included and here's a netplay guide i largely wrote myself.
other than that, dolphin is naturally used for gamecube/wii, and project64 with the AQZ netplay plugin is used for N64.
games are great. go play some games.
The sign of high quality is the fact the book was banned by the government. Trash literature NEVER EVER had any troubles with the law.
FARENHEIT 451 IS ON THE BANNED BOOKS LIST??? IT’S LITERALLY ABOUT THE SOCIETAL DANGERS OF BANNING/OUTLAWING/BURNING BOOKS ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
That’s the reason it’s on the bloody list.
BECAUSE IT’S ABOUT HOW BANNING AND BURNING BOOKS IS WRONG.
HERE’S ALL THE PDF VERSIONS I COULD FIND SINCE WE’RE ALL IN QUARANTINE AND WE CAN’T PHYSICALLY GET THE BOOKS WE DON’T HAVE
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (this was the only free version I could find, and it’s a downloadable thing, so do so with caution)
Catch-22 (it was either this version or one where the entire thing was in comic sans font)
The Jungle (personally I don’t like this formatting, but the site doesn’t look sketchy so…) - there’s also this which is the proper book format in a pdf, but it’s directly photocopied so it might be hard to read some of the print
Our Bodies, Ourselves (we learned about this one in APUSH!)
COULD NOT FIND Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (the ebook is 47 fucking dollars??? and i can’t even find sketchy websites that’ll let me download a pdf. if anyone manages to find a link, lmk please)
Where the Wild Things Are (this is a slideshow!!!! how fun)
COULD NOT FIND The Words of Cesar Chavez (however I did manage to download the first 71 pages of the book from EBSCO and I put it here but I couldn’t get the rest. sorry y’all)
rebloggan 4 links
I do my best to live by these words…
always a reblog. ~mg
