really? i don't think it takes a lot of energy to avoid watching a show that primarily features a violently transphobic actor. might even take less energy.

But after reading what was said in those articles, and these old ones, I think we all know how to respond if the allegations are true, but we're all going to have to learn how to correctly respond in the event of being misled.

The person who made the accusations, Dedrek Finley, according to the coverage of the case, didn't provide evidence of what had happened to the point that the presiding lawyer over the case petitioned to be removed from it...because there was no additional evidence Finley could provide.

Here's a few words from a trans paralegal who was keeping up with the case:

According to Finley, videos of threats made by the Dawson family were on his phone, which he claims was stolen by Rosario Dawson's mother in the conflict. I'm guessing that either a warrant wasn't made for the retrieval of the cell phone, or it was never recovered. The altercation allegedly happened April 2018 though; there'd be hope. The continued harassment Finley described all the way until him moving out in September would have been recorded by some means.

The case has been dropped, but Finley wants to file for an appeal.

I'm not sure where you guys are getting it from that she "paid to make it go away"; Dawson never paid a settlement. Before any of this began, she actually had an opportunity to:

“As his attorney, we have reached out numerous times to the Dawson family attorney seeking to resolve this before having to file suit,” Hill stated. She said after receiving no response, the suit was filed last week before the statute of limitations expired. (from the NBC news article)

She refused. Since then, 2019, all claims but two had been voluntarily withdrawn by Finley BUT we know that's common with civil cases ( you file claims for as many things as possible, and then see what sticks)

Finley says he still managed to call for help, after scrambling to get Rosario’s phone and hiding in his room until police and paramedics arrived. After being taken to the hospital, he received more treatment for injuries and was granted a temporary restraining order against Isabel. 

The court asked for more evidence in regards to the last two claims, both having to do with the alleged criminal assault done by Dawson's mother, but multiple attempts at contact with Finley, through every contact he provided and even through social media, all didnt lead to him filing an opposition, and the required evidence was never provided or explained. There was a call for an extension because Finley said he had been diagnosed with COVID at the time, and that's why he couldn't be reached, but there still needed to have been something to show in order to deny Rosario's plea for a court dismissal.

He needs evidence of the assault, threats, or property damage. He said that there was property damage because he was dragged through the window by Rosario Dawson's mother, which broke the screen, and that he was repeatedly assaulted enough to be treated for injuries at a hospital and file a restraining order. There is evidence of the 911 call, and of his arrival at the hospital. If there is a documentation of listed injuries I just can't find it.

There is evidence of Rosario's mother having a criminal record, and previous tenants have complained about altercations with her.

I'm sorry to say this, but sometimes a case like this disappears beneath the dirt, because it is being buried but not necessarily by money. Usually because the case was sensationalized and then nothing came up of it. For example, I was trying to find more people who were trans, had read the case, and maybe had more insight. The Mary Sue article on the case (May 2021) provides a conclusion; but not necessarily an answer.

olaf is the prime example of a genuinely bad character who did a few good deeds in his life and doesnt get redeemed because of it. the baudelaires did not mourn for him. they buried him because to them, they felt thats what they should do. they still hated him. count olafs ending is not an excuse to crown him your “uwu precious angel who was misunderstood.” he is a bad person who had a few good moments. dont romanticize his abuse of the baudelaires just because he carried kit to the island.

I think they buried him because watching a corpse decompose is traumatizing and unhygienic. Plus it would not smell good at all. 

Burying him was more their gift to themselves than any commentary on his worth as a character.

this post taught me that not everyone learned the lattice method in elementary school

In grade school we learned the normal way to do multiplication one day and then the lattice way the next, except I was sick the day we learned the normal way and they never went back and reviewed it and neither did I and so to this day I only know how to use the lattice method
