Hey everyone! This is my corner of the internet for collecting images and words that bring me joy. I hope you'll find something to your liking here, too. Things you will find here: nautical exploration, history, literature, art, music, architecture, nature, cinema, and anything that makes me laugh :) A large portion of this page will be dedicated to Christ, the saints, and the Eastern Orthodox Church, to which I belong. May God bless you, and may He keep you always +

Then Feanor died; but he had neither burial nor tomb, for so fiery was his spirit that as it sped his body fell to ash, and was borne away like smoke;~.p121

Eastern Iran is dominated by two vast deserts. In the middle of one of them - the Dasht-e Kavir - lies a vast and desolate place dominated by enormous sand dunes. This place is called Rig-e Jenn, which translates to “Dune of the Jinn”. A “jinn” is a spirit in Islamic culture and this place was once (and in some places still) believed to accommodate evil spirits.

I always show these photo sets to a few friends and/or family members before publishing them, and almost every person has insinuated or said that some of these photos must be manipulated or retouched. I can assure they are not. No manipulation, no retouching. The desert really looks like this and in some cases, yes, it does look unreal.
