Why wasn't the originally planned America/Hawkeye story for Secret Love replaced with a different LGBTQ-themed story? It's troubling that the book ended up almost 100% straight.
We replaced it with another story that Jeremy Whitley wanted to tell, simple as that.
In that case, why didn’t Marvel choose another LGBTQ story? And if there really was only one non-straight story pitched and it was unacceptable, why didn’t Marvel specifically seek another one out? That kind of representation is important, and in an industry dominated by straight cis white dudes, such diversity isn’t always going to just naturally appear. Sometimes you need to make an effort to create it.
