I should’ve said no to you, but I never say no. And it’s selfish because… Because I just take everything, and I don’t know anything, and I don’t know what I want. And how could I when all I ever do is say yes to everything? CAROL (2015) dir. Todd Haynes

INT. CLARISSA’S APARTMENT. NIGHT.

SALLY comes into the room to find CLARISSA sitting on the side of the bed in her coat. The two women look at each other. SALLY comes round and gestures to CLARISSA to stand up. SALLY puts her hands on CLARISSA’S shoulders to help her take off the coat. As she does, CLARISSA turns and looks at SALLY, the two of them overcome. The two women look warmly at each other, then they kiss.

It’s hard to get a great role; those big expectations change to realism pretty quickly. But what’s never changed is my desire to work with great directors and to find projects that push me out of my comfort zone and keep me alive. I still don’t think I’ve done my best work.

Yep, still no arrests. How come, I wonder? Cos there ain’t no God and the world’s empty and it don’t matter what we do to each other? Ooh, I hope not. How comes you came up here outta nowhere, looking so pretty? You ain’t trying to make me believe in reincarnation or something, are ya? Well, you’re pretty, but you ain’t her. She got killed, and now she’ll be dead forever.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) dir. Martin McDonagh

“We have a dance in the brothels of Buenos Aires. It tells the story of the prostitute and a man who falls in love with her. First, there is desire. Then, passion. Then, suspicion. Jealousy. Anger. Betrayal. When love is for the highest bidder, there can be no trust. Without trust, there can be no love. Jealousy, yes, jealousy will drive you mad.”
