Series: The One True Streamman - An ongoing exploration of the canon universe. Gordon is a man with a computer, a thriving friend group, and unimaginable existential questions. How does one maintain a healthy friendship when you’re on a different plane of reality than your AI friends? Listed here by publication date rather than chronological order, each of these stories can be read as stand-alone fics or as part of a greater narrative. Related posts on this blog are tagged #gordon streamman .

Square and Sphere -  With his new webcam at ready, Gordon is ready to show the science team the real him for the first time. He expects a lot of things-- high emotions, jokes about his appearance, all the works. He doesn't expect fear.

Good Fun with Good Buddies (and Gordon) - Darnold has found himself forging close friendships with the ragtag crew that call themselves the "Science Team", and it's only partially because he's stuck in Gordon's computer with them. They're his friends!...Except Gordon.

Open File > Run as Administrator - Dr. Coomer is awake and aware for the first time since he left Gordon his final message, and nothing is there. And he's going to be okay.

Outside Looking In -  Gordon’s long-time friend and twitch producer becomes concerned when the streamer dives head-first into the impossible task of taking the Science Team out of the game.

Bubby and Coomer Present WEDDING 2: The Sequel - No, not the sequel to an existing story-- that title is what's going on the invitations to the Boomers' wedding vow reaffirmation ceremony! Gordon helps plan a Twitch wedding for the mad scientists who live in his computer, as one normally does.

Don't Spell Memory Without Me - There are two Gordon Freemans. One of them isn't Gordon Freeman, and the other one doesn't exist. Or never existed. It really depends on how you feel about philosophy. Regardless, Gordon has some questions for his friends about the man who wore his character model in their pre-ResCas memories.

Streamer Unconsciousness - If your stressed, exhausted friend falls asleep on your couch during group movie night, the nice thing to do is get him to bed. However, that's a little hard when your friend's body is on another plane of being, and your world is on his computer. Gordon falls asleep in VR.

Run For Your Life - In progress. When unforeseen consequences threaten the Science Team’s peaceful postgame life, Gordon and his AI friends must face the past and go back to where it all began. Armed with nothing to lose and one hell of a plan, they’ve got no qualms with tearing the game apart from the inside out– on purpose this time.

Haptic Feedback -Ficlet, written in reply to an ask. Gordon tests out a haptic VR bodysuit and is able to physically feel his AI Friends' touch for the first time.

Other HLVRAI Stories-

Bottlecap - follow-up to kyanitedragon’s Camouflage. Gordon takes issue with Tommy’s additional party guest. Tommy won’t let anything happen to his headcrab friend. Benrey’s just happily falling asleep with an entire pizza in his mouth.

Etymology Unknown - Black Mesa's perfect scientist discovers that a person can choose their own name. Why the hell would he keep one that a bunch of inferior researchers came up with?

ive been wondering this for awhile, because im a SUCKER for world building(? would you call it that?) and stuff but… whats the fanbase like? is there a fandom for the channel like there is for hlvrai? (but uh. more alive of course lol.) whats it like? i really wanna know about the general community around the channel…….

related to the fandom bit, do people in the fanbase treat the science team (minus gordon) like real people, or fictional characters? i think about this a lot especially in relation to dr coomer.. considering he seems to have some.. complicated feelings about his nature as artificial intelligence

im also so curious about like. outside opinions of the group… its really funny to imagine theres this group of people DESPERATELY trying to prove that the science team are just played by people and not really AI to no avail LOL i’m imagining like 50+ paragraphs long reddit posts trying to “debunk” them

i think about this verse a lot i have SO many thoughts about it So fucking many. Ok goobyby have a good day:-)

Oh man, the fandom discourse for his channel would be INSANE. Because there's always a vocal percentage of the viewerbase who insists it's all staged, there's people who insist the AIs are characters and thus fair game for shipping without being deemed RPF. And then that makes the true believers mad, because they take it to mean the shippers don't see the Science Team as real people just because of their origins. It gets really messy.

Fortunately, that's just a small cut of the fanbase. Most fans were gripped by the narrative and the humor of the original HLVRAI streams, then stuck around because the group was compelling and interesting. The team are just funny people, and if they're really hyperintelligent (well, that's debatable) AI, then Gordon's streams with them are scientifically fascinating as well as entertaining. If they're not, then they're REALLY GOOD at committing to the bit and that makes them talented performers.

Coomer doesn't like to engage with viewers who constantly try to "debunk" him. Bubby, on his own channel, has fun with them.

"Oh yeah? If I'm a fraud, could I do THIS? AA--" This stream has ended.

Ages ago I made an AU with a friend where some of the Science Team just occasionally made Reddit posts like. Picture of Sunkist in Black Mesa (the team in the background is surrounded by blood) or Benrey making an AITA post about the betrayal lol. This led a part of Gordon's fanbase to believe that the Science Team is laying out an ARG. I feel in the Streamman universe that would be "Several people finding these Reddit posts believe it to be a weird ARG until they find Gordon's actual channel"

I'm not sure that would stop them from thinking it's an ARG.

Man, the Gordons and the circumstances are so different that personally I can only imagine this as a "kris where the fuck are we" level crossover rather than a proper au.

Once Heddy and Barney are able to talk things out, things are still awkward between them, but there's no bad blood. While Barney was never shy about disliking Lamarr, the headcrab never held any ill will towards him. In fact, she always enjoyed being around him-- mostly because he was easy to get a reaction out of. Now that they're on equal footing and can communicate, his attitude towards her is much less "you're a parasite and you're nothing but trouble" and much more "you're nothing but trouble [affectionate]". They can tease each other.

He's also dedicated to making up for his actions upon first meeting them in their current state. This is to say that if you have anything negative to say about Heddy Rangoon, you're going to have to go through Calhoun first.

"Yeah, I know we have to make do with the food we've got, but-- hey, watch it. They're not PICKY, it's just-- LOOK!"

Someone help I downloaded halfed live and the funny gamer alien and the gordon are kissing idk what to do around gay people help :(

Hey

[Start ID:

  • 5 GMod screenshots of HLVRAI Gordon standing and leaning in to kiss Benrey, who's sitting on the counter in the Black Mesa breakroom. There's a popup in the top left corner reading: "Something is creating script errors, check the Problems menu for details."
  • A bonus screenshot featuring Hatsune Miku in the foreground with the two kissing in the background. Miku is posed in a way that makes her look like she's holding the camera and taking a group shot.
  • A drawover of the bonus shot by user grapemoon, with a smiling Tommy in place of Hatsune Miku. Blue sweet voice floats up from where Gordon and Benrey are.
  • Another drawing of the bonus shot by user snailsdraw, but it's featuring Miku again. Top text and bottom text on the image read: "ここ どこ だろう?" (English translation: "Where am I?") /End ID.]

Hey 2.0

Anonymous asked:

So Heddy used to be Gordon?

Yes. The human part of Heddy is Gordon, and still sees himself as the same person under it all. Granted, that's the same person merged with an alien creature, forming a shared identity, but Lamarr is still mentally distinct, and so is Gordon.

So if people still address Lamarr by her name within the collective, why did Gordon change his?

Uh, I mean no. No who told you that. clearly this is a different person altogether. I mean look, Gordon Freeman could grow a proper goatee, Rangoon just has a patchy chin.

Pictured: Heddy, who is totally not Gordon Freeman, scratching their nose area with a headcrab claw. Their human arms are folded because that is a silly idea.

It's kinda hilarious to me how in canon Benrey's most associated with fire and yet we gave the pyromancy to Bubby

Apparently this is because in the cast commentary, Gir straight-up admits that every single time something gets set on fire it's because he did it, not Scorpy. Benrey just so HAPPENED TO BE STANDING JUST RIGHT to make it LOOK like Benrey was the one doing it. He wasn't.

The only time it was ever Benrey was in the ACAB stream when he had the flamethrower, which iirc, Bubby not only actively encouraged, but also sounded proud whenever he saw Benrey using it.
