Inspired by various genres, writers and poets @c.syresmith Jaden Smith took the time to find himself, in a world where so many feel the need to tell him about himself and judge him based off of what they see. I am a person to have a keen ear into listening which is what I did when approaching his new album #SYRE . I knew he was going to bring something good, but did not expect it to be this great! The first song we are introduced with starts off in Iambic Pentameter which is an ode to William Shakespeare, from then on he flows into the story of #SYRE . To my knowledge I believe this story represents his battle between finding his happiness and wishing for it to remain. We also are introduced to his sorrow found in the blue ocean. I feel this all but a big beautiful metaphor. From the first four songs making up the word BLUE it definitely caught my undivided attention and excitement that Jaden was about to tell us something real. So I took to my part and planned a “short film” inspired from the album, involving film stills associated with different lyrics I chose from some of the songs. Not only did this project test my abilities as a photographer it has brought people together. I decided to join in with some other creatives, the models Josh ( @black_spiderman_1 ) & Kris ( @retromortal ) along with stylist ( @iam_clothesminded ) and Artist ( @og_kree ) to add to the creative mix bringing paintings and style to the entirety of this project. I got the idea to create this series into a book after watching a film strictly made of film stills called “La Jetée” by Chris Marker. Being able to fuse together different mediums and brainstorming with others is what I strive for. Overall, I hope this series inspires others to look around and take advantage of the friends, they are surrounded by and build each other up. There is no need for competition this world wasn’t created with one but with two… We need each other which is what I’m trying to say. Create, inspire and disrupt the norm.
