Can we just… normalize teens loving their parents? Like obviously you’re not obligated to if your parents are shitty, but damn, I love my mom. She’s there for me all the time and sure we have rough patches but honestly she’s the greatest. Like. We need teens to know that they don’t have to hate their parents just cause.

It must be nice to come from a nonabusive family. One that doesn’t traumatized every emotional interaction to the point where you drive away any sign of love as a form of manipulation because that’s all that you were raised with. 🤷‍♀️

It is.

Reading Comprehension

but loving ur parents is already normalized and its the kids w/ abusive parents that actually have to deal with misunderstandings and ignorance from others regarding this topic.

Hey there, I’m talking about the trope where it’s seen as super uncool to like your parents that was literally pushed on teens through the media since the culture shift in the early 60s. The post has nothing to do with abusive parents. I was abused as a kid and honestly if the trope where teens have to hate their parents to be cool died, then kids with actual abusive parents would have an easier time recognizing abuse this has been a psa

“if the trope where teens have to hate their parents to be cool died, then kids with actual abusive parents would have an easier time recognizing abuse”

Teen with abusive parents: I hate my parents

Teen influenced by society: Me too mine are the worst

The takeaway for teen 1: This is normal and it’s supposed to be this way

The takeaway for teen 2: My friend’s parents are like mine

The takeaway for any adult listening: All kids who complain about their parents are just being rebellious

this is important

“ugh stop being excited about the barbie movie you know it’s just a 2hr advertisement” yeah bitch so was the lego movie?? the mario bros movie??? the sonic movie??? every transformers??? every mcu film??? gee golly gosh what’s different about this movie than all those others

Shein is going down for being an organized criminal organization. Actors and Writers are striking. Student Loan debt relief may actually go through after all. Jack Smith is closing in on Trump, and all signs point to him dying in prison. Billionares are dying in ignoble and humiliating ways. Please God keep this ball rolling, it almost feels like the first taste of justice in about as long as I can remember.

“Way too reliable narrator” where the narrator provides documentation and proof for how they know every detail in the narrative and an estimate of how confident they are in it.

A study. What you are proposing is an academic case study.

Yes, but imagine if it’s a fantasy novel written in that style.

“The scholarly consensus is that Sarina Redhair stabbed the Lich in the third and fourth ribs, cracking them. However, a fringe theory suggests that Sarina stabbed only the fourth rib, and the damage to the third rib happened post-re-mortem. Unfortunately, we have no physical evidence of the Lich in question to examine in order to confirm the theory.”

alternatively: the second half is from a disagreeing academic writing a long form “fuck you” paper

Alternatively alternatively: the disagreeing academic is a grad/PhD student who is using (shredding) the previous narrators very biased opinion as a basis for their thesis / dissertation.

Bonus points if the second half is shorter and more convincing than the first half.

A third paper contradicting the first two, which is very clearly wildly improbable and seems like the least convincing but the author is also the overall author of the book.

Appendix includes magazine clippings debunking the entire book as metatextual trash of the first order, but reference an historical event that is clearly from the same fantasy world as all three academic papers.

instead of exterminating rats, the state of New York should hire a rat trainer to round them all up and teach them to do odd jobs. they could clean up litter, scrub the manhole covers… run electrical wires. maybe do some plumbing

there should be a dedicated rat feeding station in every subway. if you pass out drunk on the bus a squadron of 50-60 purebred albino rats should carry you gently down the street back to your home. i know this may all sound rather infeasible—but if you hire me, the pied piper,

I think most stories could benefit from having two characters whose relationship is just "those two guys" (gender neutral). Most of the time if you look for one of them you'll find both of them. They can hate each other or be the best of friends or something in-between but they just can't find that same spark with anyone else. Their relationship is best described as "do not separate them". They are fully fleshed out characters individually but if either of them are left alone without the other for any reason it feels so wrong.

In complete seriousness, they need to make laws about ads that say they can take no more than one, maybe two, clicks/taps to close/skip. No more "wait 10 seconds until you can skip the video, wait 10 seconds until you can skip the fake playable ad, wait 5 seconds until you can close the 'download now' overlay, puts up a half-screen in-app appstore pop-up (which at least you can close immediately)." This should literally be illegal to do.
