I love that folks are being more accepting of autism, but I don't love that autism is being sanitized into a quirk.

There's a cute and acceptable form of autism on social media, and I don't see any indication that folks are remotely ready for discussing the rest of it, which contains all the uncomfortable things that impede a person's everyday life, require support, and make acceptance almost impossible—where the hygiene struggles, inappropriate social behaviors, involuntary movements and outbursts, meltdowns, and emotional dependence issues live. And the cuter and more sanitized the "good" autism gets, the more unacceptable the "bad" autism becomes.

and if you're someone capable of hiding the "bad" parts some or most of the time it becomes even harder as that distinction is made. it becomes more stressful to maintain that facade, wear that mask, just to get a good enough grade in Social Interaction to not be harrassed about it. and stress only makes that harder.

and if you're not capable of hiding those parts you're fucked. it's not just making friends is challenge mode. it's literally a barrier to so many daily things. all for no reason. I can't speak specifics bc I can either be myself around people I trust or mask well enough most of the time to keep out of too harsh a scrutiny. but I know how hard that is and couldn't imagine what it's like when that just isn't an option.

I think the funniest thing I learnt today was that antis DID try to make their own ao3, but the restrictions made it impossible to do anything.

Nobody on the site could agree on one solid concept of "moral" and "immoral", so it spawned a plethora of huge arguments and the site had to be shut down.

And the tagline was "good fiction for good people."

Make of all that as you will.

This is the funniest thing I've heard in such a long time. I knew that was gonna happen because antis are so obsessed with being the most righteous person that not even people who agree with them can be as morally pure as them.

Hey OP, what was the website called? Because I searched on that tagline and the only thing I found was this post.

Unfortunately I legitimately can no longer find it, most likely because it was taken down. It's good to note that this was something I heard through my friends, so I'll most likely pester them again about it.

I've been trying to ask around, and will make a post once I locate an archived version of the site, or even its name.

Update: I found YET ANOTHER PERSON who is aware of the site's existence, but also can't find its name. All we know is it's a site that claimed to host "pure fiction only". It's like an urban legend, so many people have heard of it...nobody knows it....
