Friendly reminder that you should

  • Write that fic
  • Draw your OC
  • Redesign that blorbo
  • Plan that comic how you want
  • Create the content you want to see
  • Be cringe
  • Be free

The only thing that matters is you having fun! Not what others think!

I've been wanting to do something like this for a while! I'm very excited that I finally did!

I'm gonna reblog with some videos of people speaking various American Indian/indigenous American languages, because I think most people don't even know what they sound like. Not to be judgement of that—just, you know, I think people who want to be informed should know what they sound like!

Former president of the Navajo Nation, Joe Shirley, giving an address in Navajo.

Nora Marks Dauenhauer telling a story, "Raven and Deer", in Tlingit.

Albert White Hat, a well known Lakota teacher, translator, and activist, speaking Lakota.

This YouTube user, Grahm Wiley-Camacho, has uploaded a bunch of videos in Colville Okanagan Salish, but I'm not sure who all the speakers are.

Multiple people speaking Cherokee and talking about revitalization of the language.

This guy speaking Yucatec Maya (guest starring: adorable small child).

There's a ton of material in Greenlandic on YouTube, but it's hard for me to find, because the titles and other metadata are also in Greenlandic! Of course, this represents a huge win for the language, since this is a biproduct of being in vibrant use by a community of speakers. Greenlandic has been an official language of the territory of Greenland since 1979, and the sole official language since 2009.

Here are some proceedings of the Greenlandic parliament, the Inatsisartut, which are conducted in Greenlandic.

Here is a radio show in Greenlandic, from Kalaallit Nunaata Radioa.

And here is a video of Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam, Greenlandic MP in the Danish parliament (Folketing), causing some upset by speaking in Greenlandic instead of Danish.

Conversation between Loran Thompson and Francis Boots in Mohawk.

Interview with Yup'ik elder Raphael Jimmy about qaneryaraq "words of wisdom/right living".

posting here for posterity:

i am sitting outside with my dog winston and he was barking at a one of my neighbors who was walking home

and she looks at him and she says in a very thick jamaican accent: “do you know how small you are? and you talk to me like that?”

and then of course he starts to cry because now that’s his best friend and she says “oh you crying now? you don’t know what you want, and you never will” and she goes inside her house

that’s him btw. with his long ass body and his two inch legs

I don't get housing arguments since the solution is pretty much always a mix of build more housing, make people live in the vacant units and a little bit of rent control

Like everyone knows that housing is only so insanely expensive because there's a shortage of it so making people live in empty units and building new apartments is an obvious solution, so why do people oppose it.

Is there a shortage? I keep hearing there are more empty houses than homeless people and that real estate speculators sit on empty apartment units for vague tax purposes.

Building new housing has been found to stop rent increases, but yes forcing people to sell homes that aren't their primary occupancy, banning short term non owner operated rentals, and vacancy taxes are all also an important part of the puzzle

Also having a larger and more robust housing supply can benefit everyone as it gives people more options for housing and lowers the cost since even if we did just give everyone a home, housing would still be too expensive for many working families

my only strongly-held yu-gi-oh headcanon is that, in the universe of the dub, yugi is partially jewish. this is for two reasons:

1. his grandfather’s name is solomon (again, just in the universe of the dub), and i’ve never met a goy named solomon

2. how hilarious would it be to sit through a passover seder with an ancient pharaoh riding shotgun in your head

Other evidence:

  • Solomon is the reincarnation of Shimon which is also a Jewish-ass name
  • Yugi’s hair frames his face in a way that, plus chin, is a six-pointed star ✡️
  • I’m jewish and I said so

my step mom was asking me more questions about the nonbinary thing and after talking to me for a bit, she said "oh, so youre a rosé! not a chardonnay transitioning to a merlot, just your own unique type" which was such a middle aged white woman way to frame it, but i cannot lie gang. it did make me want to cry
