I do believe I will be going silent for a while lads and won't be updating this blog for a while. I'm tired, but I'll try to be back soon
biggest rule of tumblr is to make a blog you enjoy and only post what you want otherwise you're getting into the territory of loser behavior.. nothing matters but you and your blog and maybe the fun you have with some mewchies along the way

Therapy is risky because sometimes they'll just ask you their standard "why can't you, though", and you think you're making some good point by saying something like "well if I don't do anything with my life then what's the point of being alive in the first place" and your therapist gets that look on their face and you immediately realise that your dumb ass just got caught, pinned to the ground with your stupid-ass neck between the spikes of a pitchfork, and you are not going to wiggle out of there before you two unpack what the fuck you just said.
we are in a media literacy crisis
friendly reminder that characters don't need to be saints to be entertaining. and telling a story does not mean endorsement. art does not need to be all about morally good people.
IDK if this was meant as hyperbole but it's literally true:
We are genuinely in a crisis of media literacy, with ever fewer genuinely factual resources available in the style and language used by contemporary audiences.
It may sound condescending, but we genuinely need to remind people, or worse, explain to them for the first time that art is not evidence of real world behaviour.
So, thank you, for this reminder. Genuinely.
You're correct:
Art does not need to feature exclusively morally pure characters. Art is not proof of the creator's secret, violent desires.
They should invent a way to shoot your shot that isn’t deeply profoundly humiliating for all involved
Questions to help break through a ‘I can’t do the Thing’ wall
- I’m not doing the Thing, but if I were to do the Thing, what would be the first bit to tackle?
- eg: I’m having trouble washing up. I’ll start by just getting all the dishes into one place and emptying the drying rack.
- Often, you might find that the first bit was what you were stuck on, and now you’ve done that, you feel ready to do the whole Thing. But if not, that’s fine, you’ve set things up to be easier later! Similarly:
- What can I do to set things up for when I’m ready?
- eg: I need to apply for a job vacancy I’ve seen. That feels really overwhelming and I don’t have the energy right now. I will create an email with the correct address in and open the files I’ll need for tomorrow.
- Half-done is half more than you had before, and it will make things easier when you come back. Reduce the friction and complexity as much as you can.
- Will this task actually be any easier if I do it later?
- eg: I need to re-spray my waterproofs. It’s sunny today but it’s going to be raining all week, so it would actually be easier to do it now so I can do it outside and let them air. ‘Kay FINE, guess I will.
- or: I want to make progress on my Creative Endeavour. I’m having a lot of trouble focussing at the moment but tomorrow I’ll be better rested and my Creative Group will be meeting. It will genuinely be easier then so I should stop worrying about it for now.
- Sometimes, you realise that it would legitimately be easier to do a task later. Other times, you realise it would suck more to put it off, and that can help give you a nudge to do it sooner. It also helps reframe it in your head from “will I do the Thing?” to “when will I do the Thing?”
These are some questions that I use myself and I thought I’d share them to see if they’re handy for anyone else!
to kids claiming they cant afford a therapist: talk to your counselor
to adults claiming they cant afford a therapist: get a job
Gosh I can’t imagine why someone with a serious mental illness or disability would have trouble getting a job
aaaaa omg a coworker just came to my desk like "oh, you changed your name? me too, look!--" and pointed out her badge and then her ringless hand and gleefully announced, "divorce!!" and we exchanged congratulations and fist bumped djdnsnjs best interaction of my entire transition
STATUS: DIVORCED (POSITIVE)
I just saw a story on AO3 tagged "pet p!ay"
TIK TOK MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE IT DESTROYS LANGUAGE
Ok, unless something's going on I'm not aware of (extremely likely), I gotta point out the term "Pet Play" is significantly older than Tik Tok, or most of its userbase for that matter.
Yeah, I'm not mad about using the term "pet play". That's a perfectly fine term. I'm mad because they didn't use that term: they used "pet p!ay", a censored version
Oh. Oh gawd I missed that. Objection withdrawn, that is objectively terrible.
To anybody who is new to posting on ao3, if you’re using a tag you have to use the correct spelling of that tag. People aren’t going to type in every version of a censored word to hide or look for your content
For everyone new to tumblr, the same rule applies to tumblr too.
You cannot censor your tags! Censored tags cannot be block or filtered. Censoring tags HARMS your audience, it does not protect them
fun fact! did you know that you can gain extra ‘forbidden time’ by staying up late in the night? but Watch Out
i’ve been saying it for years:
government considers you able to work if you can give anything more than 0%
employers consider you unhireable if you give anything less than 100%
