“that was echo’s voice. i know it!”
this may be small but do you realize how significant this is? i mean sure, echo gave his number in the transmission, but that’s not what rex told anakin. he said “that was echo’s voice.” not his number, his voice. rex and echo were so close he could recognize his brother by his voice even after having not heard it for months and despite the clones all having identical voices. he knew echo’s voice.
this also makes me wonder if rex ever had dreams about it, about all the men who died under his command and if he heard their screams and their cries and their voices in his sleep at night, never letting him forget the men he tried to protect but failed. you can’t save them all.
