Hello!! Thanks for the interest! They're not open as they've not been finished yet. I should probably link some info on this somewhere on my blog.. 🤔 There have been some meao adopts in the past through, and there probably will be more before they're open.

Hello!! Thank you, I'm glad people are interested in them - I do plan on making them open eventually. For now I still haven't set up their basics, so they're not open for everyone to create yet. I'll probably make some adopts before theyre open, though!

edit: thanks everybody for the suggestions!! I could find one that... kinda does the job? and it seems the problem persists and reblog/like buttons still dont work in permalinks... maybe this is something related to having a custom domain rather than a theme issue. F to that theme because it was so good and i’d need to update some chunks of code to use it again. At least this new one has embedded likes/reblogs in the posts so yall can safely like or regrog stuff from my site now

Also, I could only get back to worldbuilding recently due to the support of my patrons. Its thanks to them I can draw something other than commissions, invest again on my headworlds and do pieces where I explore colour and style once again. Are you mayhaps talking about the shrimp method?

The shrimp method is a tutorial that teaches different methods of using references. It starts with finding references, then tracing to get familiar with the shape, then drawing something in the same pose as you see, then drawing it in a different pose from what you're seeing. It also encourages doing a before and after doodle so that you can have a visual proof of how a little bit of reference studying can do wonders in your art. Though it presents itself as a step-by-step method, you can apply each of those steps independently into your workflow.

Details! I love to make art that has a lot of things going on everywhere, with very pleasant yet contrasting colours. Odd colour combinations are a favourite too. I like adding patterns to things so that the more you look into a piece, the more you can find. Its like hiding little pieces inside a big piece, or piling up abstract art so that you have an illusion of a figure.

I also really like surrealism and things that resemble something rather than are something. I like to make anatomy believable rather than accurate. Its like fooling someone on the first sight, until further observation makes you realise that theres nothing connecting a body below those sheets. Vintage pinup artists were the masters of that, I got a lot of inspiration from them. Basically I love the (im)possibilities only art can give you, and I love experimenting with ways I can make something convey the message of a figure while existing idependently from the real thing. Thats why I draw such crazy hair... its because I don't draw hair. I make the viewer believe it is hair, though. Heres my favourite bit from my last experimental picture:

That light blue part that connects into a semi-circle. Highlights sure don't work like that, its not even the lightest shade in the hair to begin with. But it conveys the message even though its so far away from what hair should be. And thats why I love it! Also I been drawing sphinxes since 2007, love those oddballs

Hello!! Yeah sure! Jiji is a meao-ixuí! They're those guys:

Meao-ixuí are a species I'm revamping from some really old concepts I used to draw. I LOVED long eared, flat faced creatures and I made a thousand of them - some were their own species, some not. Heres some ideas from 2008/2009:

Since they weren't really a single species but a set of features I enjoyed drawing, I never really wrapped them up as a single thing. So back last year 2019 or so I decided to turn those concepts I been drawing for over a decade into a species, the name being "meao" which is a silly way of writing "miau" (meow in portuguese) because thats what me and @mirtiloart called everything in our teens. So I'm kinda honouring my teenager self with that name. Theres more than one way to draw meaos - long and flat faced, and thats where the -ixuí suffix comes. Meao-ixuí are long faced ones, and meao-xatpan are flat faced ones. Heres a flat faced one from 2009 btw:

So! Their current design and lore isn't fully developed yet. I have thought a lot of little things about their culture and species, but its not a complete puzzle yet. I can for sure say so far is that they're from the tropics, are sentient, they're from a world with multiple sentient species and they're kinda the oddball there for being the only one around whos gynandropmorphic. They're marsupial-like, having pouches, and have some cool thylacoleo-like teeth:

This one is from 2019 and I've since then tuned the teeth a bit down but its still a fun way to draw it! (I've also noticed I didn't post this here which I will do after this ask) They're not very widespread in their world and often keep close to their traditional territories. Traveling around the world is a bit dangerous for them as certain things that are common in sentient communities is toxic to them - mostly things other species like to smoke so they can't really avoid it. Jiji travels as a nomad merchant with that yellow xoywren in the chibi picture, his name can be either Little Bee, Igutsak or Mayanga. Jiji is very skilled with weaving and embroidery, and since certain gatherings are dangerous for her health, its often Igutsak doing the negotiations. Personality wise, Jiji is a very chill meao. Shes often observing things in the background, but will jump in any conversation - invited or not - if she finds an opportunity for profit. Shes often the one giving ideas while Igutsak executes them. She and Igutsak adopt a human kid in their story (which is a very fun way to develop how different species deal with their offspring), and she was the one who noticed an abandoned baby hidden in a dense forest area. Igutsak is the one who nurses the kid, so heres again she being the brains while hes the action. Oh also, their world doesn't has currency. Negotiations are done by trading time, services and items. Jiji is often carrying a thousand things around in her basket backpack, which is what she is wearing in the chibi. Also the red markings on her are make-up! Meaos do that to protect bare skin areas from the sun, and also to look cool.
