All I need now are bats...

@bellfry / bellfry.tumblr.com

Lately a lot of politics. Sorry about that, but not as sorry as I am about that cheeto in the White House. Otherwise, it's toku, dorama, D-BOYS, Japanese and Japan. And I reblog anything that interests me. You've been warned!

I suppose I should make it final here, following up my last post:

My mom, Bellfry, died on March 31. If you knew her, you can come get more info from me here on Tumblr at crescentcoral-- it's a sideblog but was always the one I ran especially to share things with her.

I'm not planning to deactivate this blog, but obviously there won't be any updates.

Hi all, this bellfry's daughter,@pilferingapples .

I'm sorry to say she's in the hospital and unlikely to come back to Tumblr.

I'll try to respond to people about this on my blog; don't know how long I'll be able to access this one. But I wanted her Tumblr friends to know .

You are allowed to write a better world than you see.

Write soft academia. Write loyal friends. Write healthy relationships. Write good parents. Write siblings who get along.

You can have a plot even when your characters love each other. You can have tension even when people are kind.

this gets so much funnier when you consider that people literally just live on mount everest, there's a perfect parallel between random europeans "discovering" a mountain that people already live on and medical professionals suddenly discovering autism despite people having it going back god knows how long

For people with anxiety about filing taxes, here’s what things that happen when you make a mistake on your tax return:

- it gets corrected

- you get a letter in the mail either asking for some additional information or a letter showing the adjustment

- you pay the amount (there’s options for payment plans too!) or get a refund

Things that do not happen

- you’re “in trouble”

- you are charged with fraud

- you go to jail

I know that most people are probably just joking/exaggerating when they say a mistake on their return means they get thrown in jail but when I worked with the public I always would encounter people who believed that would happen and they would be panicking about it. So I like to put this out there every year because if I can even prevent one person from feeling that way, it’s worth it

Annual reblog of this important information.

The thingy above where you sign your tax form says that you’ve filled it out to the best of your ability.  “Sir, I am a dumbass” is 100% a valid defense

I was a full calendar year late filing my tax return for 2020 and got a twelve buck fine.

Also, unless you owe like over 15k the irs probably isn't going to waste the time and money to hunt you down. The IRS is incredibly underfunded and a bit of shitshow so if you make a mistake you probably aren't worth the money it would take to "bring you in"

Right now, there is a nationwide assault on our LGBTQ+ community, especially our trans neighbors, family, and friends. It’s dangerous, wrong, and un-American.

I want to send a message to anyone living in a state that doesn’t respect who they are: Michigan has a place for you.

The Jackson citizens are already very angry. Maybe they will burn the whole MF to the ground!! The Governor would shit himself.

Thats objectively a white supremacist dictatorship theres no ambiguity about it. Anyone with an ounce of moral sense would be demanding the forces responsible get mercilessly crushed by an armed intervention.

My cats do not enjoy being tucked in, but will you instead take this photo of my boy Pepper sleeping peacefully with his comfort bubble wrap

(he carries it around all over the place it's very sweet)

Queuing this for a not-Tuesday since it is not a tuck-in, but I do feel it is extremely important that everyone should see this handsome boy and his comfort bubble wrap

The estranged anarchist daughter of the Republican gerrymandering mastermind inherited and dumped all his files

Thomas Hofeller was the mastermind behind REDMAP, the took used by Republican dirty-tricksters to redraw state electoral maps after the 2010 census in order to deliver state and federal legislative seats to Republicans even when the majority of people voted Democrats.

Hofeller was a secretive sociopath and had long been estranged from his daughter, Stephanie, a self-described anarchist who only discovered her father had died in 2018 when she read the obit pages of the New York Times. When Stephanie recovered her father’s possessions from his home, she came into possession of files detailing the REDMAP plans, files of the sort that he had long exhorted his co-conspirators not to create or retain.

Stephanie turned some of her father’s files over to the government watchdog Common Cause for use in a lawsuit over North Carolina’s redistricting; thanks to the frank admission of racially motivated voter suppression in Thomas’s files, the court found that NC’s redistricting was illegal.

Now, Stephanie has licensed all her father’s files under an unspecified Creative Commons license and dumped them on Google Drive for anyone to use, exhorting others to “download and distribute this material, at will. It’s yours (be nice).”

Researchers of the study argue that this “plateauing of cognitive ability” amongst the biggest earners shows that at the very top pay scales, the resources available due to someone’s family background and lucky breaks in careers carry more weight than overall intelligence.
A team of researchers from Linköping University in Sweden, the European University Institute in Italy, and the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands say that better cognitive ability plays more of a role further down the pay scale.
“We find that the relationship between ability and wage is strong overall, yet above €60,000 (US$64,407) per year ability plateaus at a modest level of +1 standard deviation,” write the researchers in their published paper.
“The top 1 percent even score slightly worse on cognitive ability than those in the income strata right below them.”
This is based on data from 59,387 Swedish men who completed a military conscription test aged 18 or 19. While this limits the findings in terms of nationality and gender, it still provides a relatively large sample across a variety of pay levels and occupations.

IMHO part of this is that things get less competitive at that level. You don’t have to push yourself as hard, and your peers aren’t as backstabby. You sit on each others’ boards, making sure you stay in power as your respective CEOs, come what may. Your biggest enemy is not each other, but the government and the lower classes. And it’s easy to socialize your failures.

Anyway, it’s why I don’t like it when my friends say they’re not smart and thus can’t succeed; imho their “lack” of success is just that they’re playing the game at a higher difficulty level, one the wealthy and powerful could help mitigate (like they do for each other) but choose not to.

So within two days of each other, Fox News writes an article comparing aromanticism and asexuality to pedophilia, and then Matt Walsh releases a video saying asexuality is a mental illness and asexuals are tricking teenagers into having depression.

Not sure what’s going on right now over in Conservative World, but it’s a hell of wild U-turn for them to suddenly switch from “Oh no! The left is sexualizing our children!” to “Oh no! The left is asexualizing our children!”

It’s a reminder, I guess, that they’re coming for all of us. The fash and the white supremacists will not make nice distinctions between the queers when they put us up against the wall. There is no gatekeeping, no label-policing, no purity-purging and no assimilation that any of us can do that will save us. They want us dead, and while they’ll start with whoever is most vulnerable at any given time, they’ll get around to all of us eventually.

Queer solidarity means all of us because the fash are coming for all of us.

scrunching my face real hard rn

agemaxing by working 5 jobs and looking 60 by 25

Aging is *literally* the process of your body breaking down like an ancient and damaged machine. It's the epitome of the REAL definition of "degeneration" and people act like it's some sort of "beautiful natural process" no bitch it's literally a disease. It's a built-in kill switch your body has and science has proven this kill switch can be turned off with the right treatments.

Same goes for death itself. "Natural" body death can also be stopped with the right treatments - in fact, there's a lot of overlap between anti-aging treatments that could exist in the next couple decades and the anti-death treatments that could show up in a similar amount of time.

Ok I guess. But it happens to everyone, it’s inevitable, and trying to stop it only cause self-hate. Might as well embrace it

Can people actually fucking do some research before replying with dumbass shit like this? Seriously HOW ARE YOU THIS MOTHERFRUCKING STUPID?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

IT IS SPECIFICALL:Y NOT NATURAL

AGING IS YOUR BODY LITERALLY BREAKING DOWN AND FALLING APART YOU STUPID PIECE OF SHIT! IT CAN BE PREVENTED VIA TREATMENTS THAT YOUR BODY ALREADY DOES!!!!!

great job telling someone to kill themselves over a harmless post! Maybe you should go touch grass!

ITS NOIT HARMLESS TO SAY THAT AGING IS NATURAL YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKING BITCH

YOU ARE LITERALLY GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY TO SPREAD MISINFORMATION YOU STUPID WORTHLESS SACK OF SHIT

Cranky because you can't stop the concept of linear time, aren't you?

HOW CAN YOU BE THIS MOTHERFUCKING STUPID DO SOME MOTHERFUCKING RESEARCH YOU DUMB FUCKING CUNT INSTEAD OF SPREADING REACTIONARY BULLSHIT I HAVE PROVIDED SOURCES NOW LOOK AT THEM OR GO FUCK YOURSELF BITCH

they didn’t take the chill pill

22 years old and you're like this? smh no but fr put on sunscreen. that's it. that's the only "anti-aging" shit that matters and honestly it's there to prevent skin cancer. fuck looking young, i just don't want cancer. for me or for you

Thank you all for a fantastic post-reading experience, wasn't expecting to see someone saying "kys" in reply to being told humans are mortal

IM LOSING MY FUCKING MIND WHAT IS THIS??????????????????????????????????????????

Ok so at this point I've had two people roll up to me in manual wheelchairs, well, one of them was somebody pushing somebody who was nonverbal at the time, but it still counts. They asked me why I had zip ties around my tires.

It's winter where I'm living and we have really bad snow. And the snow plow people are really bad at their jobs probably because there aren't snow plow people who clean sidewalks. As a solution I got to thinking about how I could increase the traction on my wheels. And the most redneck thing I could think of was taking a bunch of zip ties and tying them around my wheels. They last surprisingly long, and work surprisingly well. It's basically the same premise as chains for your tires during the winter.

I chose to space them out pretty evenly so there's about one for every spoke. You could probably do more or less depending on how many you want and how much traction you get but I wouldn't go more than three per spoke. I realize that it's a bit later in the winter, and I probably should have made a post about this sooner, but I came up with it about a week ago. So please share this, even if you're not disabled, because there are tons of people I know who are stuck in their houses because they can't get around in the snow. A pack of zip ties costs about $5, which compared to $200 knobby snow tires is a big save, and if you want to invest you could get colored zip ties.
