Bookworm & coffee addict. ➵ In my final year of Undergrad, double majoring in Psychology and English Literature ➵ This is my secondary (personal) blog/studyblr ➵

I just read your bio and I must inquire. What is double majoring and how does it function? 😍

My university requires its students to either double major, do one major + a double minor, or specialise (called a specialist). It’s just like studying anything anywhere else; you just cover two subjects areas instead of one in order to graduate with your Honours degree.

WRITE IT BADLY. Write it badly, write it badly, write it badly, write it badly. Stop what you’re doing, open a Word document, put a pencil on some paper, just get the idea out of your head. Let it be good later. Write it down now. Otherwise it will die in there.

Advice for university?

Don’t neglect your health, and make sure you put aside time to connect with loved ones/friends. Both of these things will actually help you perform better in your studies.

Which college are you at in U of T?

Hi I’m really interested in doing a year abroad in Canada as part of my English Lit degree (I go to Warwick Uni in the UK) but I’ve never actually been to Canada before lol— is there anything you think I need to consider?? & which Canadian uni’s would you say are ‘the best’ (eww horrible phrasing but can’t think of another way to say it) or are known for English studies? Thank you!!

Hello! Hmm.. I’ve never taken a year abroad so I have no experience to speak from. That being said, I do think location & cost would be my primary concerns. Location as in… do you want to be in city centre? I would personally choose city, as I’d like to get out whenever possible to do some sight-seeing. It would probably be easier to do so when studying at a university in the city. However if being out of city is more your thing, or the experience you are looking for, then consider going to a university that is outside of the city, or perhaps one that can offer you both. I’d also consider the courses available to me during my stay. Which university offers you the greatest flexibility/choice? The weather varies quite a bit from season to season, we have very cold winters, and very hot summers. So I’d also put some thought into what kind of wardrobe you’ll bring along, and maybe what you’ll have to purchase when you’re here.

In terms of top universities or ones known for English studies… maybe consider the University of Toronto (I can’t not rep my [soon-to-be] alma mater, also Northrop Frye and Margaret Atwood studied here!!), University of British Columbia, McGill University, Queen’s University (I heard good things about their English program back when I was in senior year of secondary school).

Best of luck!

Is your hair still red? Please do show! Also how did you maintain the color?

Yes it is! I don’t have any recent pictures of myself but I’ll try to take one in a little while. I’ve actually been debating putting more red in or going dark brunette. Maintaining colour has never been an issue with my hair because I don’t use any heat to style it (or any hot water), or any products that could wash out the colour. Also I generally choose tones that my hair has naturally so when the colour does inevitably fade after a while, the dye job still ends up blending in and it’s not as noticeable.
