"Humans out-competed other hominids because of tendencies toward violence and domination." Ummmm

(X, X)

Early Man be fishin' (and being eaten)

(X, X)

Wisdom of the Ancestors like: if you have a rival, have you considered kissing them?

There is considerable evidence that the neanderthals went extinct not necessarily because of violence with humans but because we fucked em so much they got assimilated into our gene pool

This guy raised an abandoned moose calf with his Horses, and believe it or not, he has trained it for lumber removal and other hauling tasks. Given the 2,000 pounds of robust muscle, and the splayed, grippy hooves, he claims it is the best work animal he has. He says the secret to keeping the moose around is a sweet salt lick, although, during the rut he disappears for a couple of weeks, but always comes home…. Impressive !! MINNESOTA CLYDESDALE

why are moose so terrifyingly large

Because they’re pretty much legit surviving Ice Age megafauna and almost everything was bigger back then

his moose leaves for a few weeks to Fuck

And comes back because he figures he has a pretty sweet deal.  Oats, salt, probably some treats and scratches, for the price of some basic pulling and advanced not murdering fools?

Sometimes I think people give themselves too much credit for animal domestication.  Sometimes the main character of the domestication story is some terrifying beast who reasons, “But salt though.”

shout out to people who's family isnt entirely bad or entirely good, but something in between and you dont know how to feel about them. you feel angry but you also feel guilty, because you know they genuinely love and care about you, but sometimes they show it in a way you know its not okay. your feelings are valid, your anger and sadness and grief are valid, and you dont have to prove this to no one. bigger shout out to those with memory issues who know something isnt right but can't recall all of the bad events, only the feelings, which only increases the guilt.

Reblogging to remind myself that retirement is the perfect time for some of these!

A fun meme for y'all

i’m sorry what

Pog as slang comes from the twitch emote, taken from a video with pogs in them. What is a pog? A small cap from a juice drink that is traded and used in games by 90s kids. The juice drink was called POG, short for passion fruit orange guava. Passion fruit was named after its flower, the passion flower. Passion flowers were called "flower of the five wounds" in Portuguese, eventually being translated as passion fruit by the English in reference to the passion of Jesus, aka his last moments alive before being crucified.

I love history, language, words, communication, and humans.

guys please im a twitter migrant what happened with that old dog sanctuary blog pls educate me

So there is a dog shelter(?) for senior dogs called Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary. They had a couple social media pages, among them a tumblr page. They'd repost posts from their Facebook about the different dogs at the shelter, very cute stuff. This goes on for months, it gets popular bc people love dogs. One day the blog (entirely out of the blue) posts "I just want to get dicked down again =/" and then never posts again. Everyone involved was like hey what the fuck so they messaged the Facebook page and they were like hey is the person running your tumblr page okay they've been acting real weird, and the person running the Facebook page was like huh??? We don't have a tumblr page????
