#as a new mexican native yeah our state is a shitty place to live and is riddled w poverty and drug abuse and a lot of it is bc-#the us government treats the land and people as expendable#my hometown everyone is too poor to leave and most of the town has a drug problem. it’s really fucking sad#and the town is dying businesses close people can’t do much but wallow and die there#and on the long list of shit the us government has done to NM including using it for nuclear waste dumping#is fucking Oppenheimer’s little bomb testing ruining the lives of people there for generations#my mom says it all the time that the people she grew up w are dying at late 40s early 50s. most of her graduating class is dead#and it’s bc the state of living in NM especially Northern NM is fucking abysm#*abysmal#my family Has been drastically effected by the things that plague NM and we got lucky to get out of there and not be trapped there-#-by generational poverty. Many aren’t so fortunate. And many stay bc it’s all they know and all they can imagine because of-#-the shitty conditions they were raised in. I wish for better for NM. The land and the people do not deserve the treatment they get
