oh my fucknfifgngig
Depression and Anxiety is like radiation. There’s always a little bit of it in the background but not enough to kill you. Then once in a while you get a free trip to Chernobyl.
suicidal people deserve a space to talk about their suicidal feelings without risking hospitalization/institutionalization or being accused of being manipulative or attention seeking
This is the greatest progression of events I have ever read, where’s my historical gay romance novel about this
KING JAMES, CAN YOU CHILL?
Local King Cannot Stop Promoting His Boyfriend
where’s the lush period drama about this series of events?
fun thing about king James, this guy was fairly public about his bf (more public than what was acceptable). He threw lots of extravagant parties with his man on his arm. It pissed off the church obviously so to get them off his back, he’s the one that ordered the third translation of the Bible from Hebrew to English (the King James Version aka the Authorized Version) so the Bible every hot blooded all American Christian reads today was literally just written so a very gay king could fuck his boyfriend in peace.
And the King James Bible was translated with the most homophobic interpretations possible as a way of getting back at the King. It is not the only Bible that American Christians read (for one, it’s a Protestant Bible, so Catholics don’t use it, for two, it’s not a very good translation) but it is the Bible used by evangelical Christians in the U.S., in some cases the ONLY Bible permitted for a congregation.
So if you see someone shouting Bible verses at you or waving signs at you, remember they are the spiritual descendants of King James’s enemies. Tell them to go fuck themselves and go make your boyfriend a Duke.
Wow. This is a twist I never saw coming.
ok new law
when a trans person tells you they’re getting, or thinking of getting, hormones or procedure as part of their transition, it is now 1000% illegal to say any of the following:
- “isn’t that permanent?”
- “this is a big decision!”
- “what if you regret it?”
- “but you’re already pretty/etc…”
for all the people wondering what you can say:
- “nice”
- “coolio”
- “that’s fantastic”
- “awesome”
- “that’s flippin sweet”
• “do you need cash?”
Like, I support the fuck out of trans girls and young trans women, don’t get me wrong. But it would be nice to see some more pics of middle-aged and older trans women, too.
Speaking as a slightly older-than-tumblr-average trans woman (I’m 41), we’re out here. It’s just that most of my peers don’t hang out on Tumblr, they’re on Facebook or Twitter.
I’ll be 37 this year. Wow … that hurt to say, a little. But yeah, we’re here. <3
39 here, and quite proud of it. Also not on Facebook for what it’s worth. I like the peers I have here on Tumblr. :)
*sigh* fine. FINE.
i’m… 39. i just turned 39.
i’m only owning up to it because i was terrified of transitioning at 34 and i would do anything to alleviate that fear for someone else.
we are NEVER talking about this again tho
35 now (just got home from a shoot and an outcall when this was taken)
… the women above me give me lots of hope and joy
THIS IS MAKING ME SO HAPPY OMG
It’s always really nice seeing pictures of older trans people, because quite often on here it’s the transitioning teenagers, and it’s scary because it makes it feel like we don’t have a future
y’all are beautiful and amazing, please keep being you!
I will be turning 40 in April and I am just getting ready to start HRT.
This is just a list of people my soon-to-be 37 year-old self should be following…
Always reassuring to be reminded that I’m not the only 35+ y.o. transwoman on here!
40 y.o. here. Started HRT 6 months ago.
Beautiful!! It’s comforting to see any older trans people online, tbh.
I literally just choked on my actual tea. :D
I read through the comments and saw that no one named everyone, so let me take care of that (pardon the brevity, this is off the top of my head).
Row 1 (left to right):
1. Marsha P. Johnson. Trans legend, present at Stonewall, co-founder of STAR along with Sylvia Rivera, a kind of beaming godmother to the movement.
2. Chelsea Manning. Leaked information to show illegal/immoral activities the U.S. government was engaged in. Came out as trans while in prison and came out of prison seemingly full of joy and hope.
3. Reina Gossett. An amazing NYC based artist and activist who worked at the Sylvia Rivera Law Project and, among other things, found and posted the now iconic video of Sylvia Rivera at the 1973 Gay Liberation rally. She’s now working on a narrative film about Marsha P. Johnson.
Row 2:
4. Janet Mock. Brilliant writer and journalist whom many of us credit for the recent phase of the trans moment because of her dedication to openly celebrating and sharing space with other trans people. Her first two books, Redefining Realness and Surpassing Certainty are must reads.
5. Caitlyn Jenner. Ridiculously famous trans woman.
6. Sylvia Rivera. Where to even start? If you’re going to read about one person on this list, it should be Sylvia. No one better represents the struggle and resilience and indomitable spirit of the best parts of the trans movement than her. At the very least check out her Wiki here.
Row 3:
7. Leslie Feinberg. Activist and writer of Stone Butch Blues and Transgender Warriors. Hard to easily describe their identity since he noted how gender was contextual, but around other trans people, he liked masculine pronouns.
8. Miss Major. A powerful force, Miss Major has been loudly advocating for, and personally taking care of, trans people since the days of Stonewall. There’s a new and wonderful documentary about her, Major!, which you can learn more about here, as well as request that it come to your school.
9. Jennicet Gutiérrez. A bold activist particularly focused on trans immigrants and incarceration, Jennicet came to public attention when she interrupted a speech by President Obama to draw attention to the abuse of trans women in detention centers.
Reblog if you 100% okay with a transgender person correcting you if you accidentally misgender them or use their dead name.
