Blaschko’s Lines

Blaschko’s lines are an extremely rare and unexplained phenomenon of human anatomy first presented in 1901 by German dermatologist Alfred Blaschko. Neither a specific disease nor a predictable symptom of a disease, Blaschko’s lines are an invisible pattern built into human DNA.

Many inherited and acquired diseases of the skin or mucosa manifest themselves according to these patterns, creating the visual appearance of stripes. The cause of the stripes is thought to result from mosaicism; they do not correspond to nervous, muscular, or lymphatic systems.

What makes them more remarkable is that they correspond quite closely from patient to patient, usually forming a V shape over the spine and S shapes over the chest, stomach, and sides. (Source)

Artist Gets an Extra Ear Implanted Into His Arm

Australian performance artist Stelios Arcadiou, known as Stelarc, had the third ear created from cells in a lab in 2006. The ear is made of human cartilage. Stelarc, who is visiting professor at Brunel University School of Arts, took 10 years to find a surgeon willing to perform the operation. He uses medical instruments, prosthetics, robotics, virtual reality and the internet in his work. (Source)

a concept: i’m in a warm bed with lots of blankets and i have no obligations to be anywhere. i’m calm and safe and happy and you are here with me

brain: let's go out and get stabbed!
me: what no why
brain: if we survive we'll get attention and if we die we'll be dead
me: ....actually that's a p good plan

A tous mes amis français, mes pensées vont vers vous et je vous souhaites courage et force afin de traverser ces moments difficiles.

In case any of my fellow Americans were unaware this message is an echo of the headline of Le Monde on 9/11: Today we are all Americans.

My parents were traveling in Europe immediately on and after 9/11, and everywhere they went people offered condolences and asked if they’d lost anyone that day. This generosity continued for the entire five weeks of their trip.

So the very least we can do is hold the people of Paris in our thoughts and prayers.

Reblogging for the comment. I thought this was familiar.
