This is a story from my last job at Lig Bots. I had a bad habit of not scanning items customers had in the bottom of their carts bc I couldn't fucking see if they had shit down there and the customers hardly ever brought them to my attention. To the point my managers made me start asking if they had anything in the bottom of their cart. Well one time I forgot to ask and forgot to scan some pack of sodas. And my managers. Call me out on the radio. And told me to run out to find the customers after they walked out of the store and make them pay for the sodas. I'm not running out into the parking lot to drag customers back in to pay for a $3 pack of sodas I forgot to ring up. I just walked outside to find them and "couldn't see them."
