They arent, they’ve been used by the black and latino working class lgbt community before upper middle class white lesbians decided we couldn’t use them anymore and then later stole them. I’m begging white LGBT+ people to click these links and educate yourselves. I’ve been seeing so many white wlw erase Black and Brown history. I also encourage fellow Black and Brown LGBT+ folks to read up on our history. As someone who uses butch, and is Black, I wanna make sure everyone knows that butch and femme aren’t lesbian only terms. There’s even terms exclusive to Black LGBT+ folks as well. Do research about the history of stud and terms likes bull dyke.

I’m tired of people pushing shit that was made up by white TERFs. If y'all care so much about queer history then fucking do the research and learn about how people of color influenced the community. We help build it after all. Don’t y'all dare bring up Marsha P. Johnson but then erase Black LGBT+ history. Don’t.

I’m a voice actor. This is my worst fear.

Having your voice stolen by AI is not just terrifying to me because my voice is my job, it’s also terrifying because THAT IS MY VOICE. That is my literal voice. How I communicate day to day. My biological instrument that I play. It’s not yours to take! It’s not a toy for you to play with! You can use that to pretend to be me and I have no way of definitely getting it removed from the AI database now WHY would you do that to someone what is wrong with you???

A colleague of mine, who voiced an UNDERAGE character, had her voice stolen for a song with adult content. She reported the song multiple times, but trolls kept reposting it. the caption read (paraphrasing) ‘haha, we can do whatever we like, we don’t care if voice actors lose their jobs, it’s funny so we’ll keep doing it.’ that is the mentality of these people. They genuinely don’t care about the impact it has on the victim. My colleague could be impersonated for fraud, her voice could be used for ANYTHING, those clips she never recorded could lose her work in the future or be used to smear her and she has no recourse at all. The FUCK is wrong with these people.

Not to mention that AI voices were trained on voice clips stolen from the internet without the owners’ knowledge or consent, or that they’re already being used to replace human actors and their years of training with a worse, amoral alternative. It’s just another tool for the rich to get even richer.

All you need to clone someone’s voice with AI is eight seconds of clear audio. If you have any videos on social media, on YouTube, on TV, your voice can be stolen. This software should already be banned but the fuckwits in charge couldn’t legislate their way out of a paper bag so here we are.

STOP USING AI VOICES.

We talk about online echo chamber brainrot as though it's strictly a right-wing reactionary thing, but when I was young it was near-universally believed in online gay communities that most bisexual men were just straight men pretending to be queer for clout, and the notion that straight men circa 2000 were not only pretending to be openly queer, but doing so in sufficient numbers to constitute a discernible demographic – and that this somehow afforded them greater respect – is possibly the most "touch grass" idea imaginable.

Self improvement is great but ultimately? you have to accept your self. Yes you can eat better, exercise more, read more, set boundaries, love your self, but it all comes down to this. Some days you won’t have the energy to do any of these things. And you’ll look in the mirror and think that this is not enough. That’s a lie. The biggest love for self is to live slowly. To rest. To really rest. Have a nap. Eat what makes you feel good. Read if you want to. Embrace yourself and accept that you cannot and will not be ever be perfect. Accept that you are good enough.
