Reddit post by Dr Will Powers

No actually, this needs to be in the body of the post.

This isn't someone looking to make a quick buck off the backs of desperate trans women.

This is someone who is gathering a hit list. This person may use your info for active swatting, but not just that, this product will kill you.

This product is outright dangerous. This dose of ashwagandha is ASTRONOMICAL. It's anxiolytic - meaning that it causes agitation and anxiety - and if you take this dose every day you'll be developing serotonin syndrome within 4-6 weeks, and an ER trip/death within 8. And if you're on medications that interact (SSRIs, antipsychotics, most kinds of opiates) or alcohol, this risk is magnified.

This person wants to KILL YOU.

Also the photo they're using for the founder is AI generated. The easiest tell is the neck tattoo seemingly merging with the collar of the shirt, and none of the locs actually having an end that connects them to the scalp.

There's a terf in the comments screeding about how this totally isn't a rightwing psyop and it's asian fetishizing trans ppl obsessed with anime doing this, so here's some irrefutable proof that it is, in fact, a right-wing dox honeypot!

If you go to any post by TheQueerQuirk on Twitter and replace the username part of the url with transaretr8ors it will redirect you to the same tweet with the new username, indicating that TheQueerQuirk's old username WAS in fact transaretr8ors. You can test this yourself.

They're also stealing images from r/transtimelines for fake reviews.

Their domain name was registered on June 2 and the address marked is a common scam address (seemingly of the Icelandic Phallological Museum).

THIS IS A HONEYPOT. THEY'RE COLLECTING ADDRESSES. YOU COULD BE SWATTED, HAVE YOUR IDENTITY STOLEN, OR AT THE VERY BEST RECEIVE A PRODUCT THAT WILL CAUSE SEROTONIN SYNDROME.

SPREAD.

This is conservatism. They literally want to kill you and have you pay them money for the privilege.

I feel like the answer is obvious as to why but we really do not see a whole lot of long term transitioned people in our community especially online, do we? Like every single popular trans person I can think of came out in like the past 5 years tops and as someone who's been out for over a decade it's a little hard to relate to the more recently out for a lot of stuff... Like no I don't need tips on how to pass or what it's like to finally be free I want to see other people like me who fucking survived...

Transitioned 15 years ago. Started playing roller derby 9 years ago.

This is a poll.

This poll is meant exclusively for people who use it/its pronouns in English. If you do not use it/its pronouns in English, you can only use the "show me the results" button, which is the first option AND the last option.

You can use it/its pronouns with combinations of other pronouns and still vote, you just have to actually use it/its themselves in English.

You do not have to be trans or nonbinary to use this poll. The only requirement is that you use it/its pronouns in English.

I'll list the options out here before we get to the poll itself to help those with screenreaders since apparently polls just list all the options at the very bottom of the post:

  • Option 1: I don't use it/its, show me the results
  • Option 2: I use it/its, I think they are neopronouns
  • Option 3: I use it/its, no, I do not think they are neopronouns
  • Option 4: I use it/its, I do not know if I think they are neopronouns or not
  • Option 5: I use it/its, I do not care if they are neopronouns or not
  • Option 6: Option 1: I don't use it/its, show me the results
[Plain text: "If you use it/its pronouns, do you consider it/its pronouns to be neopronouns?" End plain text.]

@it-its-culture-is can you signal boost? Thanks :)

Feel free to reblog even if you don't use it/its!

When I filled out this poll I chose option 1.

Surprise, now I use she/her and it/its pronouns. Happy Pride Month!

objectively good idea

I am once again reminding everyone that the purpose of these bills is to pave the way for requiring government approval ID verification to use the internet

When you ask government to do the jobs parents should be doing, not only will they objectively do a terrible job, they will use the opportunity to take away more of your privacy and infringe further upon your rights.

Mass censorship and surveillance under the guise of “protecting the children” is a tale as old as time, yet people keep falling for it

It's a tool to isolate children from learning about the world and people who are different from them during their most important formative years, so that their parents and the powers that be (in Texas's case: white evangelical christo-fascists) can control them.

How many LGBT youths learned about their identity from coming into contact with other queer people online? This is knowledge and experiences that many parents cannot give, and many more are ideologically refusing to.

as a person with ADHD i find it incredibly suspect when somebody says “oh [character] has ADHD” and they the person who makes the headcanon doesnt actually have it. especially if the character is prodominantly seen as naive or stupid because i know how people who dont have ADHD see people who do have ADHD. ADHD headcanons deserve to be applied to more then just naive and “stupid” characters ADHD people are creative and talented and driven in their own ways their personalities are wide and varied and to assume we cant be be smart , we be cant be leaders, and that we cant be accomplished while having ADHD and that we can only be comic relief or the idiot or the adult child is perpetuating a very harmful stereotype and i for one wont fucking stand for it.

I headcanon that Ensign Beckett Mariner and Captain Carol Freeman are ADHDers. Alonzo Freeman is the beleaguered neurotypical dad and husband who’s desperately trying to help his wife and daughter cope with their disabilities.

It's annoying that ADD has not been a diagnosis since 1987 (or 2013 depending on how you define "not a diagnosis" as well as your source, either way at least a decade) and yet there are STILL people fighting tooth and nail to argue that ADD is it's own thing, or a thing at all.

It's ADHD-I. There is literally no difference between "ADD" and ADHD. They're the same disorder. It's just a subtype. The inattentive subtype. It's such a basic piece of misinfo yet it's EVERYWHERE.

I was diagnosed with “Attention Deficit Disorder (Without Hyperactivity)” in January 1988. The idea that ADHD could exist WITHOUT outward-directed hyperactivity was then still a new idea (it was introduced to clinical practice in DSM-III-R).

Unfortunately, I need Disney to crush DeSantis, completely and utterly. Because if it isn't a complete rout, then other companies without the Mouse's resources (so, almost all of them) won't pick the fight in the first place and will back down the next time a DeSantis tries this.

Disney wants your money.

Fascists want you dead.

Also, pragmatism aside, Disney is just objectively right here. Desantis very very very very very very clearly broke the law to go after a minority. The fact that Disney is defending said minority because they see it as a source of money doesn't change the fact that Desantis broke the law to go after a minority. Like, wider context of Capitalism aside, what we have here is a very specific case where one side is illegally going open season on vulnerable kids, and the other side said "hey, don't do that."

Man, I hope that girl managed to figure things out.

I distinctly remember during Ye Olde Hellish Childhood Days of being dragged to Baptist churches this one guest preacher that went on and on about how important it is for Christian men to be friends with other Christian men but how difficult it is for men to have friends, because of course when you become friends with another man you will naturally want to have sex with him, so the temptation, y'know? It's tough, resisting those urges to have sex with all your man friends when you're a man, all you men know what I mean. It's so hard. You must be Very Strong In Your Faith before you can handle the responsibility of being friends with another man, so you will be able to Resist The Devil and not have sex with them.

14 year old me sat there in my pew, thinking. I think I know something about this man that he does not know.

I spent a few years of my adolescence thinking every boy hated being a boy and wanted to be a girl deep down. I realized I was trans when I realized this was not so.

A rules committee decided that the leader of the State House can opt to not recognize individuals without giving an explanation, Zephyr said. “This decision is a direct assault on the principles of our democracy and serves to silence the voice of my community, as well as the 11,000 constituents I represent.” Zephyr is being silenced for having spoken out against an anti-trans bill on Tuesday. “This body should be ashamed,” she’d said. “If you vote yes on this bill and yes on these amendments I hope the next time there’s an invocation, when you bow your heads in prayer, you see the blood on your hands.”

This is the Republican Fascist Party. I am NOT exaggerating in the slightest when I say that every single senior leader of the Republican Party needs to be treated as though they were the Nazi war criminals at Nuremburg.

Are there ANY good-quality studies of ADHD that suggest antidepressants like Effexor actually help?

Black lung, mesothelioma (asbestos), carpal tunnel, repetitive strain injury, traumatic brain injuries, etc.

All work hurts people, OSHA exists to keep those injuries to what we consider acceptable levels (usually rates of 1 in a million serious injuries but it varies).

A lot of us with ADHD are familiar with the concept of time blindness, but for anyone who isn't: it's a neurological inability to have a consistent sense of the passage of time. If you put me in an empty room, gave me a button and told me to press it when I think it's been 15 minutes, I might press it after..... idk, anywhere between 3 minutes and 2 hours? And if we repeated it the next day the result would probably be wildly different!

But something I've only seen mentioned in one (1) Reddit post, which took some extensive digging to find, is the same effect extending to ALL things measured in numbers. Distance, weight, length, height, amount, space, volume, percentage... For me, small numbers are a bit easier, I could approximate a centimetre probably, but a metre would be much harder and 10 or 100 would likely miss the mark by a lot. Also, anything that can't be easily measured with a ruler or a measuring tape (like weight or volume) is even harder since I don't encounter reference points (like a 1kg hand weight) for those as frequently as I see visual representations of specific lengths.

It's not dyscalculia or anything like that, I'm decent at math (and the OP of the Reddit post was a math major) and I have no other difficulties with numbers, it's just a disconnect in translating real life experiences like sensory input into numbers (and possibly also inconsistent processing of sensory input? Like how the same sound volume is okay one day but hurts my ears the next?), which I think is basically the same thing as what happens with time blindness. For now I've been calling it "measurement blindness" since I've never seen a name for it anywhere, but maybe "quantity blindness" could also work?

I've talked to other people with time blindness to see if they experience this too, but so far none of them have known what I'm talking about. I'd really like to know how many of us are out there and if anyone knows literally anything actually scientific about this very inconvenient phenomenon!

Tl;dr: bc I am wordy:

  • It's like time blindness but for all things measured in numbers
  • Not dyscalculia or caused by it
  • Pretty much never seen it talked about anywhere
  • Please tell me if it sounds familiar and/or you know something about it, thank

I have no literal idea what an inch is. Or a centimeter. Except the latter is a bit less than half of the former. Same with a foot, or a yard. 2 yards is “me” in thick shoes.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share some myths and facts about ADHD that I found. I know the text can be hard to see, so I’ll paste it down below:

Myth: ADHD isn't real

Fact: ADHD is a chronic and pervasive neurobiological brain difference with decades of research behind it

Myth: ADHD is over-diagnosed

Fact: Roughly 11% of US children are diagnosed compared to less than 5% of adults reporting. Symptoms can be mild, moderate or severe

Myth: ADHD is a creation of "BIG PHARMA”

Fact: Big Pharma didn't exist in 1904, when the first descriptions of what is now ADHD was documented by British pediatrician Sir George Still It was not until 1955 that Ritalin was approved to treat ADHD

Myth: ADHD is just a sign of bad parenting

Fact: Parenting does not cause ADHD, and it can most certainly play a crucial role in the successful treatment of it. Some of the best parents I know have the most challenging kids

Myth: ADHD is the result of a poor diet. (aka - "Cut out sugar and they will be fine!")

Fact: If removing sugar from your diet magically "cures" your ADHD, then you don't have ADHD. That said, diet, sleep, and exercise are all optimizers for brain function. We should ALL be mindful of these

Myth: "You'll grow out of it."

Fact: ADHD is chronic and pervasive. Many of those ADHD symptoms in childhood can improve, morph or lessen as the brain matures. 2/3 of children diagnosed will have symptoms that wopersist into adulthood

As always, the link to this will be below in case you want to read the article. I hope many of you find this helpful.

Myth: ADHD is the result of a poor diet. (aka - "Cut out sugar and they will be fine!”) A low-sugar diet is antihelpful. Simple sugars, especially in the form of juices and sports drinks, can alleviate symptoms of ADHD by making more energy available to the brain.
