At some point, we all have to choose between what the world wants you to be and who you are.
New! Exclusive Black Widow Stills.
The decision to make Black Widow a family drama came from Marvel producer Kevin Feige. “[That decision] was puzzling to me,” director Cate Shortland tells Total Film. “And then I realised, by the end, that Kevin and I had similar visions. What I really wanted to do was to expose the character and get under her skin. The family created the dynamic with which that would happen. We see a different side of the character, because she’s in scenes with people that know her from when she was a child. She’s not a superhero in those scenes; she’s a daughter or a sister.” - Total Film Magazine
According to our intel, Marvel are set to keep their cards very close to the chest until Black Widow hits theaters, but Scarlett Johansson has reportedly signed on the dotted line and agreed to a deal to return to the MCU. While details are thin on the ground, the studio obviously needs to be careful about how they bring her back.
Of course, there are several options in regards to how Nat could return, with time travel, flashbacks and alternate realities all on the table, but as of yet, we don’t know how exactly the character will be back on our screens – only that she will at some point. And while some fans will no doubt be overjoyed to see her again, a Black Widow comeback could also cause serious creative headaches if not handled properly.
[…] In fact, we’ve now heard from our sources – the same ones who told us The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would be delayed and that Taskmaster would be the main villain in Black Widow – that the actress has reportedly reached an agreement to return to the MCU in the future. According to our intel, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness set to introduce alternate realities and branching timelines into the MCU, anybody that’s been killed off is now technically fair game for returning in any one of the multiple offshoots, including Johansson.
[…] Additionally, we’re told flashbacks are an option as well, but either way, our sources say Johansson will definitely be back in the MCU at some point following her upcoming solo outing. […]
I can’t decide what I love more about this. The confirmed return of that “cipher” Natasha at some point in the future, the fierce look of her in the pic they chose, or the fact that they’ll have to dig deep, deep into their pockets.
I think that as long as I drew it, my soul died definitively. My brave girl.
