hello everyone, today we are Funding a Rat!
the situation: Pangur hasn’t eaten unassisted since May 16th, and has been hospitalized since May 18th. my vet isn’t sure what’s wrong yet (the two main contenders are Gastrointestinal Inflammation due to a bacterial/viral infection, or Pancreatitis) but she IS stable & will hopefully be able to come home this week.
the situation pt 2: this is all rather pricey ($5,322.25 so far, and that’s excluding Uber rides) so if y’all want to purchase pins? I won’t stop you?

May 21st update: they don’t know what it is so they’ve been treating for everything (pancreatitis, internal parasites, etc), and something seems to be working!! for the first time in 6 days, Pangur is eating of her own volition. she also seems to be growing more evil as her strength returns, so my vets may be missing a few body parts by the end of this.
AND the next bit is only possible because of you guys, and the incredible (and I mean that in the traditional sense where I’m having trouble recognizing what’s happened as a credible reality) outpouring of support. my vet said “she’s doing better, we can possibly send her home this evening, but we don’t know what happened & don’t know how to prevent this from happening again”, and then suggested I leave a $2,000 deposit for an endoscope procedure (where they snake a tiny camera through her digestive tract and take cell samples) to help solve this mystery and protect Pangur going forward.
without yesterday’s support? I would’ve said “sorry, can’t afford more diagnostics. if she’s getting better then she’s getting better.” but WITH yesterday’s support? I was like “yeah I got the juice, do your thing vet-io”
aka I’m a fucking idiot, and I really love my cat.
so thank you all so much!!!! you’ve given me a chance to (potentially) stop this from happening again, and it’s hard to express how grateful I am for that.
