Simply, a story of Suzaku searching for a way to ‘live’, just like that person wished for him, and the path he chose isolated him from the world.

suzaku in the kingsley arc makes me bark because he's like. he has to protect the person he hates most in the world; he also has to watch the person he loves most in the world be turned into a puppet for the emperor. he wishes he'd killed lelouch; he's glad he didn't kill lelouch, because this way he gets to watch him burn. he's protecting him just to make him suffer. he's doing this to the person he loves because he has such an unbearable urge to hurt, but he has to hurt on suzaku's conditions. he would stab lelouch and envy the knife. akito suzaku was a special flavor of deranged and it was catered to me specifically.
From sleeping in a bathtub to avoid ‘suprise attacks from the bad guys’ to taking naps relaxed and in peace arm pillowing his daughter. Rei is the character development itself in this series.
the shadows around rei’s eyes are pretty much gone. just putting that out there.
