There is functionally no difference between doing something nice because you actually care and doing something nice because it makes you feel good or because you think you're obligated to.

A charity does not care if you're only donating because your religion says you should; either way, your money is still going to help people. That little old lady next door does not care if you only help her with gardening because being thanked makes you feel good, it's just nice to have some extra hands.

"Fake it til you make it," is a phrase for a reason but it's also okay if you NEVER make it, if you never feel the "correct" emotions behind your actions. Your thoughts and feelings matter considerably less than the impact your actions have on other people.

It's like that story about the man who was going to donate to the hospital so he could get his name on a plaque, then realizes his motives were self-aggrandizing and spiralled on whether he should donate at all. At last he asked his rabbi, who said. "The sick in the hospital don't care if you just did it to puff yourself up. Don't shy away from doing the good thing just because you cannot do it perfectly!"

What an utterly cruel thing to tag this post with while completely missing the point. This post was about reassuring people with low and non-existent empathy that they are capable of being kind and doing good, even when they aren't feeling the "right" emotions.

If someone does good for gratitude, as opposed to genuine care, that's better than doing nothing out of apathy or a belief that nothing good you do matters because your motivation is selfish.

It's available as an IOS/Android app for less than a dollar, or a free web app. I can't hype this up enough, the developers deserve so much love for this.

Yo. This is no joke. I liked the idea of it, so I spared the dollar to give it a look. I figured even if I had to make the steps myself, it would still be helpful to have a place to put them. I have to get fingerprinted for tutoring and I keep putting it off, and it's entirely because I have trouble breaking down the steps.

I’m fairly new to the Warrior Nun family, but this announcement has really boiled my piss.

Last year I heard about season 2’s release and the Avatrice kiss and I was pretty intrigued to watch. But before I could, it was cancelled. After years of suffering through Supergirl and being queerbated left right and centre with Kara and Lena, I figured I didn’t wanna go through the pain of watching a story only for the ending to be cut short and never continued. So I never watched WN…up until I heard that it was saved.

Because I knew there was a possibility that this story would be continued, I decided to watch WN. And of course, I fell in deep - binge watching the series within two days. Safe to say, Avatrice and the other characters have all taken a special place in my heart. I, like many other members of the fandom, was looking forward to seeing what was in store.

So when the triology announcement came out, with no participation from Simon, Amy, Alba or KTY, I wasn’t phased. Before I’d sort of hoped maybe the likes of BBC or another UK studio such as Film 4 had taken the reigns (and not hollywood/amazon or other streaming platforms). The writer/actor strike seemed to be the cause, so I wasn’t worried. Plus, the thought of THREE movies featuring our girls? I was stoked.

Then we got the email a few days ago. At first, I was excited- the writers strike had just ended, so maybe Simon and co. were going to speak? I was at least hoping there’d be more detail on the plot etc. and then Simon posted that tweet. And it all snowballed with the other writers and my heart just sank.

Tried to stay positive, but it’s pretty hard to do when the show’s writers are all saying they know nothing about it. So I went to bed last night (I’m in the UK) praying we’d wake up to good news.

How fucking wrong was I.

This contest is just a huge slap in the face of not only us fans, but artists, writers and actors on the original show. The T&Cs basically state that whoever wins will get their art abused and exploited for the next FIVE YEARS in return for what? A sketch? Pfffft please. Have you learnt nothing from the writers/actors strike at all?!

The worrying thing is what this contest signifies…the producers of this movie clearly don’t have the rights to the Netflix show that we all love. Hence no Simon, hence no announcement on the actors and hence the shitty attempt to get fans to do the hard work for them and design a new Halo.

It really is a joke. If the new producers are reading this, please do better. Engage with the fandom….and for the love of god, get SIMON BARRY on your team.

I don’t know what else to say other than this is exhausting for us fans - and this is coming from someone who didn’t get a chance to get involved in the fight to save WN at the beginning of the year!

Let’s just hope I’m proved wrong and that the movies will be what we hoped.

watched Supa Team 4 today and had to doodle these kiddos!

its a fun, lighthearted and endearing series that has that nostalgic 2000s magical girl charm i grew up with. love the all girl team, the unique animation/visual style, humour, the lovely opening, AND its soundtrack is a bop!

the frame-dropped cg animation is GOOD. theres that anime pop to it that they utilise really well. great voice acting too, the jokes are actually funny and land rly well. also they’re able to use modern tech/lingo so organically as well! so many pleasant surprises in this one💕💕 its on Netflix, go give it a shot!!

let me start with a thank you to those who have reached out to me to make sure my family is fine. yes, we live on o'ahu, and the wildfires are on the island of maui so we are largely unaffected. we are fortunate that we are just fine, but many on maui are not.

as of this writing the city of lahaina has been completely leveled, and there have been over 80 reported deaths so far. the fires have yet to be contained. please use care when viewing any videos that have been posted by non-news orgs, as some of them can be graphic.

how can you help? firstly, here is a list of trusted organizations taking donations of goods and funds for maui relief efforts. all charities who solicit funds in hawai'i are required to register through the department of the attorney general, so you can check to make sure an org is trusted.

if you are planning a trip to hawai'i in the next few months, the best thing you can do is don't. don't come here. don't strain local resources. if you want to help, you can send some of that money to one of the trusted orgs linked above.
