can’t stress this enough but I’m sure some of you have seen this person around lately

DO NOT LIKE OR REBLOG THEIR POSTS.

this account basically takes ninjago art (or what they think is ninjago art) from artists all around the internet without permission and posts them on their account in batches. When asked if the art was theirs, they said yes

This is a bold faced lie. Whoever this person was didn’t take the time to remove watermarks and it’s incredibly obvious they’re stealing other peoples work. Some watermarks are blatantly obvious.

One of them wasn’t even ninjago art, it was ATLA art I believe.

Included the full image for this one so y’all can see the account for proof (though honestly you could easily go to the account and find one with somebody else’s watermark within seconds) and also see how this person is gaining off of other peoples work. This stolen art should NOT have 35 notes.

Don’t support this person. Support the actual artists the art belongs to. Many of them can be found by the watermarks!

I recommend people block them, or if you want to keep an eye on the situation I recommend you always check the account posting the art before liking or reblogging right now. Going off of style or recognizability will NOT help you because they’re stealing from other artists with various art styles - and some of them are also here on tumblr.

I don’t like doing this and I don’t know how many people it’ll even reach but PLEASE be careful of who you support right now.

It also goes to show that you might want to do background checks if someone is acting suspicious! Obviously don’t make your judgement off of a vibe but if someone is posting with little to no words and just posting art at insane frequencies with watermarks or styles that don’t seem to line up, maybe you should look into it before supporting them. Of course, sometimes it’ll be a false alarm, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!

It’s not just this person, I’ve noticed other instances of art theft recently, so I would also like to remind artists to watermark their works!

My recommendation is to have an obvious watermark that people WILL see if it gets stolen by someone careless (I.e like this instance) and I recommend having it overlap with several different colors and shading and such so that it’s more difficult to edit out. I also might recommend hiding smaller watermarks inside your work that are less obvious so that if more careful people do edit out the first watermark, you can still have a fail safe.

the thing about doing archeological excavations on livejournal is that you will find the most fucked up, horrific, legitimately sadistic, gorey torture fanfiction for your favourite characters, and it is not only in character but also well written, and then you look at the comments and they're all like 'ohmigod SQUEE!! *dies crying*" and you know what? they don't make fandom like that anymore

A Quick Guide on POVs and Tenses

First person perspective uses I/my and typically also accompanies present tense:

However, it can be used with any tense. It is the closest you can get to the character—it tends to have unfiltered access to their thoughts, feelings, ideas, memories, etc. and is the most intimate. It goes great for stories that want to stay ‘in the moment’ and rely on lots of internal dialogue.

2. Second person

Probably the least common—I’ve only ever seen it in fanfic and maybe a choose-your-own-adventure novel or two. This perspective uses you/your, and also tends to go with present tense.

                “You walk over to the stall and survey the goods.”

It’s a really unique way of telling a story that brings the reader the closest to the action—however, it doesn’t have a lot of room for character development as it relies on fitting anyone who is reading it, leaving the POV ‘character’ a shell to be filled by the reader rather than its own character.

3. Third person omniscient

Third person perspectives are outside of the character. Typically they are joined with past-tense. They use pronouns he/she/they/his/hers/theirs, etc.

'Omniscient' means this narrator has full access to the knowledge of the narrative, as well as all the characters in it. It is a bit of an uncommon perspective, as it means the narrator can and will easily “head-hop” which can be a difficult technique to do well.

                “He inhaled, staring icy daggers at Kate across from him. She knew instantly she had said the wrong thing, but had no idea how to take it back.”

                (Notice how we’re both in the male character’s head, as well as Kate’s.)

                This perspective keeps the readers at a distance, but allows them access to every character in the story. Beware, it can be difficult to build tension or keep secrets when using this perspective!

4. Third person limited/subjective

This perspective is probably the most common and my personal favourite. It has the same rules for third person, but instead of the narrator having full access to all the information, they only have access to the information the character they are following knows, or the thoughts/feelings they are having.

                “He inhaled, staring icy daggers at Kate across from him. She had said the wrong thing, and now just looked back at him with big eyes, her mouth agape as she hesitated on what to say next.”

                (Notice how in this example, Kate’s thoughts are only guessed at from our character’s POV. He doesn’t actually know what’s going on in her head, so neither does our narrator)

                Third person limited is probably the most popular because it is really effective at being a very invisible way of telling story. As well, it’s great for building tension, keeping secrets, and can explore unique character perspective and miscommunication.

Things are happening right now.

“I begin my walk to the store.”

“He says as he steps through the gate.”

“You follow a long path through the trees.”

2. Past tense

Things already happened.

“I began my walk to the store.”

“He said as he stepped through the gate.”

“You followed a long path through the trees.”

3. Future tense

Things will happen—things to come.

“He will say, stepping through the gate.”

“You will follow a long path through the trees.”

People on here and Twitter are turning the term “refugee” into some sort of joke - so I’m just going to kindly ask everyone to stop tossing the term refugee around like it’s not an extremely politically charged term

‘Men are taught not to be emotional’

Pal men are taught to throw tables across the room if they’re angry and punch people who mildly disrespect them— all of these things are emotional responses they’re just incongruous with what we consider emotional to be i.e. a sniffling teenage girl. Men are super emotional. They’re selfishly emotional. They’re so emotional that they *have* to let any living creature around them feel the pain they feel inside even for a sec.

one of my male cousins used to constantly lash out whenever anyone irritated him. he hit his mother when he got angry, punched his sister and once almost broke her arm by twisting it around when she was doing her homework in front of him and she “annoyed him by writing too loudly”, tore up one of her drawings that she’d been working on for weeks bc it was on the table when he wanted to use it, and threatened to kill his father when he yelled at him, and then one time when he was about 15 he went apeshit in public over something very minor, smashing things, screaming, threatening to punch people, and one of my aunts excused it because “That’s what happens when boys are expected to bottle up their emotions. It builds up and explodes”. This boy had hardly “bottled his emotions”. He’d been expressing his goddamn emotions all his life by terrorising his family. 

This blind acceptance that men are just a boiling pot of rage that will inevitably explode at times while also acting like they’re the natural logically-minded leaders and authority is so frustrating. 

And men like this have a problem if god forbid women ever get angry… men are irrational in their anger, a woman’s anger comes from having her boundaries violated, which is perfectly rational.

If u want to write a story about a character that's just you but hotter with a dark twisted backstory and magical powers and a pet falcon or something, I think u should just go ahead and do that. Who's gonna stop you? The government?? Fuck the police.

My living situation feels like the lowest stakes House of Cards type shit right now I swear to christ

1. Move into a unit that allows pets, rented by roommate who has a large brown cat. (Cat is Muffin.) Muffin is named as a declared pet on the lease. 2. Get myself put on the lease, which allows pets. 3. Roommate moves out with Muffin. 4. Property owner "loses" my paperwork. Tells me I have to sign new lease to stay. New lease asks for $400 more per month. No pets. Falsely declares that I moved in the same day my roommate did- two months earlier than I actually moved in, and with a previous property owner. 5. Better than being homeless, I guess? 6. Sign document. 7. Property manager sucks. Refuses to do basic repairs and maintenance. Schedules visitations and never shows up. Bastards. 8. Get lonely. Want to get a cat. 9. Lease says no cats. 10. Ask for a rent receipt from my very first month living there. 11. Receipt (paid by the roommate who no longer exists on paper) shows I paid $500 less than I am now. 12. Find my signed copy from my "move in date", signed by the property manager. 16. According to the paperwork, either I moved in three years ago and they committed fraud and extortion, or I moved in three years and two months ago when the lease still said pets were allowed, and we can quietly ignore that my rent suddenly went up illegally for no reason. 17. Submit adoption application for a big brown cat. 18. Gonna name him Muffin
