Right now my thoughts are with the family of Melissa Hortman, a democrat from Minnesota who was assassinated along with her husband and her dog in the dead of night. Senator Mike Lee (from Utah) made a joke about it. There was no moment of silence, no national response. MAGA extremism kills people.

Here’s a picture of her and her dog. Sometimes it’s hard to really conceptualize these things without faces to go with the names. I wonder why no major news outlets have focused on this story, or posted this photo of her with her golden retriever. Her dog looks just like mine. My heart is shattered every time I look at this.

Gilbert was a service dog dropout, who flunked out because he was “too friendly.” The Hortmans, of course, were thrilled to officially adopt him. He was the second retriever the Hortmans fostered and trained through Helping Paws. Their other foster dog, Minnie, was successfully placed as a veteran’s service dog. Helping Paws is always accepting donations in Melissa and Gilbert’s memory:

Melissa did so much for Minnesota, and I’m so angry that her murder was mocked by Republican legislators while the assassination of a hateful podcaster who rubbed shoulders with white nationalists and Nazis somehow receives more outrage. Trump never even reached out to Walz to express condolences for Melissa. He refused to attend her funeral. Now he wants to give Charlie Kirk The Presidential Medal of Freedom. I’m so fucking angry about it.

R.I.P. The 2976 American people that lost their lives on 9/11 and R.I.P. the 48,644 Afghan and 1,690,903 Iraqi and 35000 Pakistani people that paid the ultimate price for a crime they did not commit

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

Sam Reich is such a cartoonish character to me. His last name is literally "Rich". He's this villain-y game show host. He's the son of the ex-secretary of labour who saved a comedy media company from extinction and does magic tricks as a hobby in his free time. What kinda muppet factory did they release him from

aquarium advertisments say stuiff like discover the longtooth grouper this friday

I see that, and raise you my local aquarium's advertising.

Vancouver Aquarium has similar ads!

They also have some SERIOUSLY inventive ones:

(High and Low Tide ^)

the only type of advertising that should exist: "ooooohhhh you want to come look at the animal"

my biggest issue with the httyd live action-and just about any live action reboot is that it seems that the live action adaptations are being made to make the original “better”? like, so many people talk about a live action spiderverse, a live action hercules, a live action PRINCE OF EGYPT (dont piss me OFF.)-like animation is a beautiful work of art, and for some reason putting real people and cgi in it is supposed to be an “upgrade”? im probably being that friend that’s too woke or whatever, but i just think it’s so disrespectful to act like something that takes so much time and effort and energy is immediately considered as lower because it is animated. animation is beautiful, and it is one of the most heartfelt art forms there are, and erasing that for the sake of a cash grab is downright degrading to animation as a medium.

An Idea To Prevent A Nuclear War

“My suggestion was quite simple: Put that needed code number in a little capsule, and then implant that capsule right next to the heart of a volunteer. The volunteer would carry with him a big, heavy butcher knife as he accompanied the President. If ever the President wanted to fire nuclear weapons, the only way he could do so would be for him first, with his own hands, to kill one human being. The President says, “George, I’m sorry but tens of millions must die.” He has to look at someone and realize what death is—what an innocent death is. Blood on the White House carpet. It’s reality brought home.” - Richard Fisher, Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (1981)

Never forget that part of the reason this system was never implemented was that when he presented it to his colleagues, their response was IIRC “George, that’s terrible! If he has to take an innocent life, he may never press the button.”

why would u leave this in the tags!
