Can we please stop with the “being bi is liking all women and three men” stereotypes? You guys try so hard to emphasize that bisexuality isn’t JUST 50/50 but create posts that are just as harmful. As a bisexual who prefers guys, seeing posts like that makes me doubt my sexuality and sends me down another loop of “what if I’m straight and I’m faking it for attention”. Altough I usually come back to bi, the period of questioning because of an instagram post is really stressful for me, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels like this.
I fucking hate the normalization of choking because:
- You cannot verbally say a “safe word” when your supply of air is being cut off
- Your brain isn’t rational when deprived of oxygen (this is well documented even in situations outside of strangulation such as altitude sickness) making it hard to give some kind of physical signal like a tap
- If your partner ignores the previously mentioned physical “safe word”, the lack of oxygen makes it difficult to fight back
- Choking (both consensual sexual choking and non-consensual as a serious form of assault) seems to be mostly men on women. Your average woman is going to have trouble overpowering your average man with her bare hands and this is only magnified by point #3
- Lack of oxygen can very quickly cause permanent damage or death
- If you get off on hurting people something is wrong with you
It already happens that women are being put in serious danger because of not physically being able to say a safe word or fight back when their sexual partner is choking them
Honestly, verbal safewords should not be the only way top stop a sexual encountee. My fiancee and I have physical cues in case we need to stop, such as tapping the back of the other'a hand three times. But to anyone in a relationship, if your partner pushes last your boundaries, either forcefully stop them or contact the proper authorities.

- And creative settings and concepts that adult shows would be afraid to use for fear of seeming juvenile.
