i decided to go with a pretty common trope, but in my own style! enjoy!!
The first time Kaeya wants to kiss you is after a long night at the tavern.
He’s more than a little tipsy, and the sounds of everyone talking in the background are starting to blend together. In the midst of everything, he can clearly make out your figure sitting across from him, your laughter ringing in his ears. He can’t help but grin himself, telling himself the blush in his cheeks is because of the wine.
“I think we need to get you home, mister,” you say, a smile lingering on your lips. “You’ve had a little too much to drink.”
“I have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about, darling,” he slurs, not fighting back when you lift him from his seat. “C’mon, let me go, ‘m fine.”
“Sure you are. Let’s get you out of here before you embarrass yourself.”
“What? Who do you take me for?”
You simply shake your head in amusement as you wave goodbye to the bartender. Kaeya sighs when you open the door, letting the cool air wash over his hot face.
You two begin to make your way down the quiet streets of Monstadt. Kaeya stumbles multiple times, attempting to play it off each time.
He laughs when you scold him, turning to tap the tip of your nose. “Oh? Are you worried about me?”
“Yes, I’m worried about you hurting yourself and having to explain to people what happened,” you sigh, dragging him toward his home. “I mean, you’re the Cavalry Captain, Kaeya. What will people think when you tell them you got hurt by tripping over yourself?”
“I think it would be charming.” He grins at the glare you send him. “What, you don’t?”
“Never mind. Go ahead and fall all you want.”
Somehow, you two eventually make it to his house. You fish the key out of his pocket, fumbling with it as you try to open the door. As Kaeya watches you twist the key and push the door open, the streetlight casting a slight glow onto your face, he feels the warmth in his cheeks spread throughout his body.
After studying your face for a moment, his eyes land on your lips. His breath hitches.
“—aeya? Hey, Kaeya! Gods, you must really be out of it.” You shoulder his weight with a grunt and lead him inside. Kaeya seems to be in some sort of daze as he tries to figure out what’s going on with himself, thoughts racing along with his heart.
Am I just too drunk? Was my drink spiked? Is someone after me? Am I dying?
After feeling you tuck him in with a hushed goodnight, watching you slip out the front door, a terrifying realization hits him.
