Pronunciation

I’ve had questions about this in the past and lately as well, as a great majority of you probably aren’t familiar with Kurmancî, i.e. Northern Kurdish. So, I found a basic overview of all the letters and their pronunciations, which should give you an idea how to pronounce character/place names (and Kurdish words in general lol).

Below the cut is a handy table for the Kurdish alphabet, including English examples.

Note on the q, since the explanation might not be clear for those that don’t know Arabic: it’s pronounced like ‘k’, but farther back in the throat
