Why Are Libfems… like she almost got the point, but because of sex posi bullshit she spun it the wrong way. It’s SAD that so many women in kink/BDSM are trying to use it as a bandaid coping mechanism for trauma. It’s sad that the men involved in that scene prey upon women they know are vulnerable. It’s not badass by any means. Hypersexuality as a response to trauma shouldn’t be romanticized.

???? TrAuma

Is badaSS?????!!!! I puked

Here is a video on re-victimization from the sex positivity guru herself. She actually does a good job talking about the topic dispite not recognizing how BDSM is abuse and encourages re-victimization:

Imagine if we treated any other form of trauma like this.

Are you traumatized by being beaten by your alcoholic father when you were a child? Have you tried asking your partner or a friend to get drunk and beat you, so that you can finally be in control of your life and fully recover?

Are you traumatized by spending time in a war zone? Have you tried asking your friends to explode a bunch of shit around you and pretend to be dead so that you can experience the healing powers of consent?

Experienced enslavement and suffering trauma as a consequence? Why not become someone’s human pet and let them lead you around on a leash and make you eat out of a dog bowl and do all their house chores? Don’t you know how liberated and free it will make you feel, to be willingly objectified and subjugated?

Like?

People just say this shit. There are no studies to back it, no logic to support it.

Yet here we are.

I can’t believe the new liberal feminist take is that not getting proper help for sexual trauma is badass.

Also, IIRC isn’t there a part at the beginning of Bessell Van Der Kolk’s The Body Keeps The Score where he talked about how they tried “re-enacting” trauma with Vietnam veterans and found they began doing worse in therapy because they became revictimized?

my brother started calling our cat "doobie brother" which he then lengthened to "dubious brother" and has since morphed into "brother dubious" like he's some sort of fucked up little monk

[ID: tweet by @girlziolocked: Hugely fucked that teachers, nurses, and social workers have to go into six figure debt to work public sector jobs. They need to pay for master's degrees just to earn the right to earn less than a cop whose career training is completely, 100% paid for by tax dollars. /end ID]

I went through the tags/reblogs to see if someone else had done an ID and didn't see one so a few points of clarity from what I saw in there.

There are some tags/comments that are saying basically everyone gets their debts cleared. If you look up debt burdens for people working you can see that is not the case and the debt to income imbalance is particularly hard on people who are marginalized, not coming from intergenerational wealth, not married, People of Color. This debt burden really limits who is going to be able to get into and stay in these roles.

That last sentence makes the manipulation so transparent. “If you won’t use my preferred language you’re as bad as the people who want us dead.” Like no, I’m not going to surrender my ability to describe the world. That doesn’t make me evil. Your reaction is based in neuroticism, not survivalism, it’s neurosis that you conflate your discomfort with your destruction.

Weird, it’s almost like radical feminists have been saying for years that we’re not aligned with conservatives, that conservatives don’t care about women, and that being gender critical and being transphobic are two different things. It’s almost like no one ever cared about what radical feminists (or feminists in general) actually believed or fought for, because it’s more fun making shit up and mocking women for being evil.

Hmmm. Weird.

The “nicest” thing JK Rowling ever said was “cool movie, now go to bed and let the grown up women keep talking” and even she isn’t considered a radical feminist, she’s just an everyday feminist with a Twitter account and a large following.

Who the fuck was aligned with Matt “women need to go back to the kitchen” Walsh.

sometimes being an out-loud buzzkill feminist gets you weird looks and eye-rolls but sometimes you get 30min of a friend engaging on a topic they've desperately wanted to talk with someone about but never had permission to do so, or women coming up to you one on one later to talk about that thing you said, or friends who come to you with stories they don't come to anyone else with. on some level all women are aching for their experiences to be recognized and contextualized

it shouldn't be called unemployment benefits it should be called pretty princess boy points and it should be $10k a week

i feel like no one really wants to hear that sleep/exercise/nutrition/hydration are major factors in treating mental health issues bc we’ve all talked to that person who thinks your depression would be cured by one good session of goat yoga or whatever but unfortunately they do help and i’m chronically annoyed about it

The enemy is both weak and strong. “[…] the followers must be convinced that they can overwhelm the enemies. Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”

- Umberto Eco on fascism

dear diary,

today a tumblr user called me a fascist for saying they might feel better if they drink water

We have studies proving that when women compete in “brain activities” against other women they do better.

We also know we can prime women to perform worse at brain games just by telling them they’ll be measured against men, or that women “typically don’t do as well” even if it’s not true.

Because all women and girls live in sexist societies worldwide, one of the ways we get around this is creating certain learning environments and competitions that are still just for women/girls.

This is a common occurrence, and it’s not just because feminists think women are inherently dumb.

When I was a kid I got placed into a GEM club: Girls in Engineering and Mathematics. We got to work with CAD software, we got to sit in and work construction equipment, we got to visit factories around our school. This was a program only open to girls because it’s girls that don’t volunteer for these experiences in the presence of boys, because boys mock them.

My teacher didn’t apply for grant funding for these programs because she thought girls were stupid.

She did it because she thought her girls were smart, and she wanted us to have an opportunity to expand our ideas of what a girl could be and do away from the mockery of our male classmates.
