I just saw a man sitting on the foot path with 4 perfect even spaced pigeons all sitting in the same pose like they were together like this
still can't get over the iconography of Donna telling the Doctor "you're NOT mating with me, sunshine!" only for him to accidentally father a third of her baby. funniest possible plotline for them.
i wish ads felt pain when you skipped them
Hating rich people is not a personality trait…..
Youre right its a way of life
Something something about like. Russell T Davies lost his husband in the time between his runs as Doctor Who showrunner. About how he said if he had a time machine he says he would go back to the night he first met him. About how joy is about having enough time to spend with the people you love. And about how while RTD can't have that for himself he can give that relief of grief to The Doctor.
feel like pure shit just want her back
genuinely if you fell off at some point early in Moffat or Chibnall's run and don't want to slog through a bunch of stuff you don't think you'll enjoy here are some recommendations:
if you dropped off during the Matt Smith years then I'd recommend giving Peter Capaldi a shot. The writing is not always 100% but Capaldi is outstanding in the role. A couple of standalone ep highlights are Flatline, Listen & Mummy on the Orient Express. Heaven Sent is also excellent but a bit more arc heavy.
If you've seen some Capaldi before but didn't finish, I'd recommend picking up again with season 10. Moffat's final season, Twelfth Doctor + Bill Potts + Michelle Gomez as the Master. It's a run of very solid standalone eps w minimal story arc. Also Bill is a lesbian and she's great. Some good standalone eps are Smile, Thin Ice and Oxygen.
If you never watched any Chibnall who, you can jump straight in with Jodie Whittaker's first episode. completely new TARDIS team and very different vibes from Moffat who. A couple of highlights would be Rose, Demons of the Punjab, The Witchfinders, & Fugitive of the Judoon.
if you found Chibnall's early seasons boring, you might find Flux a lot more vibrant & dynamic. it's a six-part story arc featuring Yasmin Khan and new companion Dan Lewis. it's got sontarans, weeping angels, a whole species of furry dog people, AND bunch of really neat new supporting characters.
& also if you liked Flux I'd also warmly recommend the Near Year's special that came immediately after it, Eve of the Daleks, which is a GENUINE blast.
hope this is of use to someone!! it's like 10 years of TV to slog through at this point and some of it is uhhh u know but there's a lot of really good stuff in there that's worth checking out.
beastie boys music is funny as hell one of them will say a line and then the other two will say a completely unrelated line
"met with a girl and she sucked my COCK. sedimentary is a type of ROCK"
You can skip to the next post instnatly with the J key
... this was supposed to be a helpful tip on another post, now it looks like I'm being really aggressive about a random post about the beastie boys
Tumblr conversations are funny as hell one of them will say a line and then the other two will say a completely unrelated line
Martha Jones, most beautiful woman in the world, actually deserved 9 as her doctor. More and more I crave a timeline where they had a season together. They would have had the bickering best friends dynamic that 10 and Donna had, except where 10 and Donna shared a single braincell, Martha and 9 would have been two big brains trying to constantly one-up the other. They would have been Team Do No Harm But Take No Shit. Martha would correct and fact-check 9's ass and he would have been delighted. Whenever he was being a prick, she'd grab him by the ear. They'd get into heated debates all the time leaving any bystander confused as to what the two nerds were yelling about, but it's how they bond. They would be Doctor and Doctor and I think 9 would love the fact that she's sworn to the Hippocratic oath. Whenever Martha feels unsure of herself, just a tiny speck in the universe, I don't think 9 would put up with that nonsense at all. She cares about the preservation of life, just like him, it's what doctors do. When they manage to save a planet by the skin of their teeth, Martha would grab him again by the ears but this time to dance him around in celebration. They're both cynical at the state of things but still trying to do their best and clinging onto hope with white knuckles and ready to kick in doors while wearing sick leather jackets. And speaking of, they would definitely swap leather jackets at some point.
Trauma didn't make me nice, I consciously made me nice because I don't want anyone else to suffer like I did. Trauma didn't make me strong, I made me strong. Don't you dare ever tell me my trauma made me anything but scared, broken, and confused. Don't give credit to the abusers for me being a good person. They didn't make me good, I made myself good.
My therapist just told me my problem is that I need to write more fanfiction.
This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content--it's easy and addictive.
What we're NOT getting is that 'slow dopamine' that's more sustainable and engaging. That's the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.
So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.
Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You'll feel better for it.
Oh.
OH.
(Trying to flirt) if we were in a time loop together I would try to save you every time even if I knew it was futile. I would go insane for you
Fuck it. My hope for s3 is that Neil is satisfied with the finished product. I hope he tells the exact story he wants to tell and I hope he finishes it with a feeling of “this is what Terry and I had in mind all those years ago”.
Adding OPs tags
matching shirts for you and your bff
this is your gentle reminder to stop fighting against your adhd and instead structure your life around it
buy a pack of chapsticks and put one in the pocket of all of your coats and jackets because you always forget to bring one and chapped lips is sensory hell
leave important things where you can see them. if they go in a box or a drawer you will forget they exist
put any appointments or deadlines in your phone calendar As Soon As you get them. set a reminder for a week before, a day before, an hour before, as many as you need as often as you need them.
when that little voice in your head says "i dont need to write that down, ill remember it" that is the devil talking!!! write it down anyway!!
plan for down time. have a few hours at the end of every day to just do fun stuff like engage in your hyperfixations. even if you didnt get all of your work done that day, have the rest anyway. you probably spent the whole day beating yourself up for not doing what you Should be doing, so you still need the break.
if you never eat vegetables because its too much effort to chop and cook them, get the frozen or canned shit. it doesnt go off for ages and you just have to microwave it. theres no point buying fresh vegetables if they just keep going off and being left to rot in the bottom of your fridge
if you struggle to decide what to have for dinner every day, take the decision out of it. choose a set of meals and eat those on rotation until you get sick of them, then choose some new ones and do it again.
its not stupid if it works! our brains literally have a chemical deficiency. you are allowed to accommodate yourself. go forth and stop making your life more difficult than it has to be because "this shouldn't be this hard". it is hard, so make it easier.
I assume that in the next decade, COVID lockdown will be the prototypical "explanation" for why gen alpha is the way they are, whatever that happens to be. If the stereotype is that they're all a bunch of weird introverts, that will be due to lockdown stunting their social skills. If they're all a bunch of gregarious outgoing types that will be due to lockdown giving them a stronger yearning for socialization they were deprived of in youth.
Probably the discourse will be both of these at the same time, with people fighting with each other based solely on their impression of the last three teenagers they spoke to.
the whole thing with subtitles saying '(speaks foreign language)' is like. aside from logistical issues with outsourced transcription services, the solution is seemingly very obvious - just transcribe the foreign language itself. like, someone who hears the audio can, if they're familiar with the 'foreign' language, glean some understanding from it, even just from individual words that are loaned or widely known - and by transcribing it accurately, that isn't denied to those reading the subtitles. even if you can't understand anything, the experience of having a character respond 'Non, mais votre chien oui!' or ‘好久不见’ is better than having them respond '(speaks foreign language)'. just like when expletives are censored in subtitles but not in audio, it's a case of the richer, fuller experience being denied for a sanitised version compatible with a production pipeline that does not see subtitles as a method of genuinely conveying meaning, but as a regulatory requirement
I’m a simple person, I check Ao3, I see an update and feel effervescent, I read my fruity little tale, yell at the author in the comments, rinse and repeat
