SOON!

Zine Bash is a mini-zine fest that welcomes both original and fan works in all mediums and styles and genres. Zine Bash 03: Maritime History starts June 15th.

a new info doc will be up as soon as possible, but it's basically the same as last time: make a mini zine related to our (very broadly interpreted) theme, post it, & submit it so we can share it in our gallery and print packs too.

for inspiration, check out the galleries of polar and horror zines, and visit the resources page for zine-making info and assistance!

you can now get the 4 polar & nautical-themed mini zines i made last year in my kofi shop in case seeing them online is not enough and you want to hold them in your hands.

  • sea fever: an excerpt from the john masefield poem + some drawings of a nice tall ship. this was the freebie with most shop orders last year; the art has since been reworked slightly
  • the absence of presence: the terror fanzine, featuring my art and a quote from rosencrantz & guildenstern are dead. this was for the first @zinebash; the full print collection for that bash retired at new year's
  • what is this venture?: "found poetry" from various polar texts and historical photos of antarctic expeditions. likewise for the first zine bash
  • a presence: original art/comic-y zine about a modern polar expedition and ghosts, probably. this was for the second zine bash; the collection of 5 horror zines by myself and others is still available (also in my kofi shop)

now in the shop: new astronaut and diver charms, new "night at the maritime museum" stickers, and restocked ship and leg pillowcases. plus, there's still some encouraging polar explorer postcards, plenty of meat and dip circle pins, and a few shirts left.

[video: two acrylic charms, one of an astronaut and the other a historical diving suit, dangling from the photographer's fingers. no audio. end ID]

soon :)

night(vale)hawks

[image description: Welcome To Night Vale fanart based on the painting “Nighthawks” by Edward Hopper. the glowing sign above the glass-walled diner is not fully visible, but appears to read “Moon” as in the Moonlite All-Nite Diner. sitting inside at the bar, a grey-haired figure in a large pink fur jacket has his arm around a dark-haired figure in a lab coat. across from them, a waitress with fruit-bearing branches growing from her chest and shoulders pours coffee.]

[Image description: Digital art of Cecil Palmer and Khoshekh the cat from Welcome to Night Vale. Cecil (wearing crocs, leggings, a long-sleeved shirt and a jacket tied around his waist) is standing, hands clasped together over his chest in delight. Khoshekh floats in front of him, obscuring his face.]

hello darkness, my old friend, you are so adorable and so terrifying, yes you are! who’s the best kitty cat in the world? you are!

not here! the white north has thy bones

these are the bonus prints that are included with shirt orders, but now you can also grab them on their own here.

just printed at home, four to a page on plain cardstock, but they turned out all right!

horror & monsters zines are now available as print copies and downloads! downloads are free and you can print them yourself; print copies are $1 to help cover paper and postage. they'll remain in the shop through halloween 2023.

reminder that the polar zines will be removed from the shop (though the gallery will stay up) at the end of december. individual artists may be offering their own zines, but if you want to get the full set please grab them asap.

creators, if you've posted your zine on twitter/tumblr or have it available to view/buy elsewhere, i'd love to share those here — just tag me or dm/email a link.

anyway! thanks for making zines with us this year! and get ready, 03: MARITIME HISTORY will be happening in april-ish
