Phoneme Chart by TheEndIsNearUs

This is a nice chart! Lipsync is one of my not-so-secret passions. I also hate front mouths. They’re harder to inbetween, I find, and they’re not used nearly as frequently. Here’s some ¾ mouths I made.

These are the basic shapes I was taught, and I use. Standard lipsync shapes;; 

You have your closed mouth to open, to clenched teeth, to oohs, and your (often optional) F, L, and TH mouths.

Tips!

Aaaaand I think that’s it?  Never go from a SH mouth to a TH mouth, it’ll pop and look weird…uhhh;   Also! It’s alright to skip some shapes;; So below is a lipsync I made using the above shapes;

It’s clear what they’re saying, the mouth is moving nicely, but there’s only one problem. Veeeery rarely do they give you enough time to use all the mouths you want to make it move nice. Voice actors talk fast to fit everything in and holycrap do we hate  love them for it.

So here’s a fast one.

Those two gifs should start at the same time, and notice that the second one stops while the first one is still saying “doing”. I not only cut out the mouth between the biggest AH and the clenched teeth, but I combined the word “Are you” into, like, 3 shapes. I also trimmed some inbetweens overall. The lipsync still reads, though! You can still tell what they’re saying even without audio (which would help it a bit, haha~) Cutting out that stuff ended the lipsync a whole 14 frames sooner (more than half a second!). It doesn’t sound like much, but with 24 frames per second and dialogue moving at the speed of light, you don’t have time to dilly dally. This isn’t a preschool show;; Aaaaaand I think that’s it. Liiiipsyyyyyync~~~ Now to go back to actual work and stop talking about things most ppl don’t care about;

On a different mental health note from my earlier post, I created some affirming lock screens if anyone would like to download and use them.  In times like these, especially when our phones can be a source of negative news and distressing thoughts, I wanted to create some lockscreens/backgrounds that had affirming, validating words on them.  These are all quotes from members of the DissociaDID system on YouTube (I believe just Nin and Jade).  I felt it was only fitting, as their words helped me feel valid in my own struggles on my darkest days.

I hope these help people feel a little better, especially those of you who are struggling with mental health and trauma responses right now.  I’m sending my best wishes to all of you.

The queues at Gringott’s were never a short affair. Hermione actively avoided having to come in to the bank at all ever since they’d come out with the cards attached to the accounts. Much like muggle debit cards, actually, but much larger because that’s usually how things in the Wizarding World worked. But she could safely stow it in her bag or bewitch it to be smaller, so it was no matter.

But there was another sort of problem with hers and she needed it fixed. The only ones who could do that worked here at Gringott’s, so here she was. In the seemingly never-ending queue, taking up the entirety of her day off.

“So do you think the queue’s actually this long or is it bewitched to look long to keep all the wix away who don’t have genuine problems with their accounts?” a voice asked from behind her.

She chuckled. “One has to wonder.”

“If so, I applaud them their ingenuity. They must not have to put up with many silly problems.”

“It depends. The wix who have silly problems might be very tenacious,” she replied.

“Is that you? Are you tenacious?”

She turned and looked into his dark eyes. “What do you think?”

“Oy, Granger, didn’t know that was you.”

She smirked and shrugged. “I had my hair dreaded, so it’s not so insane anymore. It’s not your fault you didn’t recognize me.”

“Do you recognize me?”

“Nott, correct?” she asked, primly not turning around again as the queue took a half a step forward.

“Nott, but you are correct,” he replied and she chuckled despite herself. It was just the sort of witty half-joke that she loved.

“How many times do you get to use that line?” she asked.

“Not nearly as much as one might think,” he said. And the queue shifted forward three more steps as a few wix got fed up and stepped out of it. “Say, would you fancy a coffee after we finish up here?”

“Might be too late in the day for coffee by the time we get out of here.”

“Too right. A nightcap, then?”

She laughed again, turning to look at him, narrowing her eyes as she scrutinized him. “Alright.”

“Jolly good,” he said bluntly. “Something to look forward to in eight hours.”
