Even in queer spaces, people ask if you are AMAB or AFAB. Terms borrowed from our community, then simply reduced back to M or F.

When you go to a doctor, they ask if you are M or F, regardless of how your body actually works. Any anatomy or traits you have that does not fit your M or F designation is met with pity or disgust.

You're seen as M* or F*, an aberration of what is "normal", a faulty M or faulty F, a body with a problem.

The intersex experience is being constantly reminded people believe I don't exist.

It’s because the author had TWO MONTHS between publications instead of the usual week. 8X the amount of time to plot her story and see where she had been and where she was going and figure out how best to get there. Imagine if this was the industry standard instead of the crushing gears of weekly publication which grinds the minds, bodys, and souls of mangaka to dust until there is nothing left. Imagine Dungeon Menshi qualify manga as a rule not the exception. Imagine stories that did not destroy their creators. Imagine—

There were 102 chapters of Dungeon Meshi published between its debut in February 2014 and the series conclusion in September 2023. 102 chapters published over 115 months comes out to one chapter every 1.12 months. This is only slightly slower than a purely monthly schedule with no breaks which puts it right on par with every other manga published on a monthly basis - which is a huge percentage of them. Weekly publication is very much the exception not the rule.

I had previously reblogged this post so I feel the need to make this clarification lest anyone accuse me of Spreading Misinformation on The Internet. This is one of those things where I fell for it purely because I couldn't think of a good reason for someone to lie about it but it turns out that there didn't need to be a good reason it's just that the magazine DunMeshi was published in used to be bimonthly. Notably, however, it was not bimonthly when DunMeshi was running.
