I’ve said this explicitly before but I dislike when people talk about davekat as if it’s as important as vrisrezi. They fucking talk about it as if it was any importance to the plot at all. The gamkar vs davekat poll really just makes my point for me because gamkar is LITERALLY PLOT RELEVANT and people still voted for davekat as more significant.

yes, davekat can be a good ship. It’s cute and it works for the characters. But it’s nothing more than that when it comes to homestuck itself. The most davekat has done is develop Dave’s character and make him no longer homophobic and more comfortable with his bisexuality, which goes along with his whole “breaking free from toxic masculinity and how bro raised him to think” thing. Which is good, obviously, but it’s really not as influential to the story as some other ships that people compare it to. davekat isn’t a bad thing. Davekat is a cute ship but it’s really nothing more than that and that’s really not a bad thing. But people should stop making it more than it is.
